Is the evap the srs airbag?

This is why I am reluctant to bring in my perfectly working car, since the stealership is pretty much guaranteed to screw something up or cause damage to the interior/exterior. It boggles my mind how the most expensive and presumably best trained workers, provide the worst service. We have a couple of local indy shops that specialize in BMW and do amazing work for 1/3 of the cost and actually care about your car since they are enthusiasts like us.

Make sure you check under your seat for lost tools.

My car is in for a recall right now and they could not complete it in 1 day so i am driving 2019 X5 for 2 days now(it was supposed to be ready Friday but now they closed for the weekend). What should i check when i get back the car? They are saying my whole wiring is toast and they have to remove shit ton of stuff to replace it all.

Had the recall done on my car on Thursday of last week; I'd not been pleased w/ that dealership in the past but the did a decent job this time. Although, they never seem to clean up fingerprints on the dash. Nothing I couldn't clean up afterwards myself, but I kind of feel like they should do that. Overall, I'm lucky; they didn't damage or break anything and I had them throw in a new battery too lol.

Thanks for the update. Glad it has worked out for you. You don’t happen to live in the Saint Louis area by chance?

Got it done at BMW SF. No problem at all. My friend is an SA there and they got it done same day. No creeks or rattles from my globe box so far. RO notes said no issues with wires, and something about installing protective wrap or something.

Funny thing was the complimentary top off and multi point inspection. It says did not complete, car has custom setup 😅

New Century told me they no longer offer loaners for the recall.
I called up Monrovia and they put me in a loaner within a week of scheduling.
They actually state on their website that they offer loaners on all recall work.

Got an '18 Msport 330i with 500mi on the clock. It was quite a fun ride!

I've only ever heard bad things from New Century BMW all the way up here.

You guys that had issue with the blower; Would you say it is the visible power cable/fan connector that suffered from moisture? Wondering because I took a look and mine seemed all fine. If this is what the dealer is doing I rather skip leaving the car for them to mess about for nothing.

Thx

Had mine done last week at West German BMW outside of Philly. Got a loaner car (X2) and had no problems with the repair. All was done as promised and expected.

I think it's still a safety thing regardless to have the dealer clear the recall

You clearly haven't had the dealer over here to work on your car mate... Still you're probably right. So far, like 6 month ago, only had a letter from BMW Sweden telling me to expect a call from the dealer. Guess I let that letter sit while waiting, might never happen anyway...

Cheers

I believe the dealer is replacing the wiring regardless of the condition to avoid the fire risk. Mine went out on me and I didn't even notice. Didn't take a chance to look at the wires.

I wonder, the letter talks about inspection and replacement if needed. Hence I figured I'll do the inspection myself... ah well we'll in what mode Im in the day the call comes.

From what I was told by the dealer, there is a short harness and a long harness. If there is damage to the long harness then they replace the entire thing. If there is no damage they will replace the short harness regardless.

Thanks Reed, wonder what that means, gives me a reason to take another look in there.

Cheers,
