BMW is getting a bit aggressive with these airbag recalls

FedEx package unfolded into this. My wife couldn't stop laughing.

they must have spent a couple hunded $ sending me fedex notices like those. i refuse to let dealership porters touch my car, so until they hand me the airbag and let me do it myself, they can keep wasting money.

I've also gotten ones for Mobile BMW techs that will come to my house and do it for me. I may go that route when I'm not feeling lazy.

Right call. Brought my flawless baby to get this done just to get it back with scratches and dents. Dealership didn’t care even though I had before and after pictures on their own lot. Also brought my car out with some young monkey who clearly did not know how to drive a manual. Never again

you should really get it done, its more than a safety recall.. Its an airbag.

Not gonna happen, can you imagine their liability exposure if they did that?

I detest taking my car to the dealer as well, but I told them not to wash it or test drive it under any circumstances. Sure shit can happen, but you can minimize the risk by speaking with the SA. FWIW, BMW Concord did mine and I was pleased with their work/service.

Personal safety > tangible property.

I had my Aim Solo 2, logging as they did my Blow Motor recall.

They revved it to 2k a few times, that's about it.

i will sign a release of liability. i have worked for more than a few dealerships, i know how they treat modded cars. i will never trust them with a car i give a shit about.

It's the grand master plan together with rod bearings.

I have started getting flooded with these notices too - and pretty impressed with how BMW has tracked down my E92 M3. Bought it used, never taken to the dealer, never registered it again after the initial purchase, moved since the purchase. Guess they have been spending some serious time doing title searches or something?

I'm very tempted just to go the local dealer and tell them just to tape up an airbag to the wheel or something to get BMW to quit with the letters

Please take this to the dealer. Make sure the power cutoff is switched and get ready for a good chuckle.

The dealership local to me is sending technicians and doing the recall mobile, at your home, now.

A friend of mine took his driver's airbag deleted, non street registered, national championship winning conepacking E46 to the dealer to get them to stop calling him.

They replaced the deactivated passenger bag with a new deactivated passenger bag and marked the driver's airbag as non-replaceable due to removal.

He was hoping that they'd try to hook up ISTA to the Megasquirt, but that never happened.

My local dealer actually sent out a tech to my house, at my request, and changed the airbag in my garage.

If you are apprehensive about taking your M to the dealer like me, I suggest you inquire about a mobile replacement option (i.e., at home or work).
