Opinion on painted calipers?

I'm wanting to do my calipers in a bright red with black wheels. Black paint btw.

I just wanted to know what your guys opinion would be on doing this or the color combo. This wouldn't be the old run of the mill spray paint job it would be painted by a professional.

Thanks a lot.

(If the rare case that anyone has pics of any painted can you post them?) Thanksss

Powder coat is the better long term solution..paint will fade/crack etc

To do a powder coat on calipers tho they have to be disassembled and the seals replaced..easy enough to do if you are willing to invest the time or find a powder coater that can do both jobs for you

The OEM seals run about $20 each (front) $40 (rear)..I got quoted 350 to disassemble, powder coat and reassemble with new seals

Part Numbers

Garage List
The stock calipers while they're effective and work well are just not a very good looking set of calipers in general. Just avoid bright colors, I've seen a set done in yellow and red. The Yellow looked like the Red was alright could have passed as stock like on the frozen black cars...

Just my 2 cents the best color for them is the OEM black....

I wouldn't paint the stock calipers because I think they are better without calling attention to them. They don't look very good so why paint them so that everyone's attention is drawn to them.

Take a look at pics from the Frozen Black edition. They come with oem calipers in red. They don't look so bad but the oem brakes are really not much to look at. If you really want to do them there are plenty of caliper paint kits that actually do an amazing job. If you clean and prep properly you will get GREAT results. If you want the best results possible go with powdercoating. There is a much larger cost and downtime with your car. To be honest with you I think you should leave them alone though. Get yourself at least a front BBK, better performance and eye candy. You can paint the rears and later upgrade the rears too.

I'd prefer to re-finish the stock caliper in a more robust satin black finish than the standard which is affected by heat and contaminents. For me a red re-finish would cheapen the look of your car. It would also highlight the joints in the standard caliper design which I think are ugly compared to aftermarket BBK's. Just my opinion. If you really want red I'd say save your cash for a BBK.

Tischer sells a red caliper upgrade for anyone interested. It is the exact same caliper that comes on our cars however they are red. They are 303 for the rears x 2 and 383 for the fronts x2. Spoke to Jason at tischer and he said he will do a group buy of 5 of us for free shipping. I have not purchased yet so obviously no pics but its our existing oem caliper in red. If you are interested in a group buy with me send me a pm

If you can't afford BBK that's ok. We all know they are not cheap but for the love all things not rice please don't paint your OEM ones! Just leave them black. Why draw attention to a baby caliper?

I have to disagree with people who offer up go buy a BBK as an alternative to painting stock calipers... obviously the cost is an issue. That being said... I agree you should disassemble and powdercoat if you are going to do it
