are the e93 headrests the same across all models?

I want to try to put speakers in the front headrest of my e93 but I want to do a test run first on some crappy junkyard or eBay headrests first. e93m3 headrests are considerably more expensive.
Does anyone know if the headrests in a 328 or 335 are the same other than the m logo?

You could look at Real OEM and see if the part numbers are the same. Just a thought...

They "fit" but aside from the obvious M3 logo they have active head restraint components inside (airbag system) that should spoil your attempt to making speakers fit inside.

This. "Headrest" is a bit of a misnomer -- they are a safety item to reduce the chances of whiplash. As a side effect, they work for resting your head on.

I know they are a safety item, lol.
I was not aware that they had airbags in them though.

I was going for something similar to what the Miata has with their speaker headrest system.

if they do actually have active safety components in them then that's obviously not an option.

Looks like my year (08) doesn't have active headrests as I can manually tilt the headrest forward and back. They started that a year later.
