VF OR ESS Supercharger

looking to get a supercharger kit for my car before summer. Stuck between VF620 and ESS 625. Id want the gintani stage X but way to expensive any input on VF or ESS?
I've personally seen the VF put more power down on the dynos consistently over ESS...
any feedback would be nice! Trying to get the best bang for my buck!

I believe the difference is negligible but the ess plenum definitely is more aesthetically pleasing. I also favor ess's air intake design.

Power wise I'm not sure but probably negligible. I know they're the same centrifugal blower running similar boosts. Maybe the difference is in the tune? I have an ess kit sitting in the garage. I haven't installed it yet, personally I'm not really concerned about the dyno numbers more concerned about it not wrecking the motor..

Ess have sold way more kits but you can't go wrong with either

If you want a vf kit vivid racing have had this one on clearance for 6 months at least. You should call them and try and get free shipping or something, it's a great deal for a new kit! https://www.vividracing.com/engineer...151575665.html

keep in mind that there is a gen 2 kit coming out for ESS so you might want to wait for that

From what I hear air/air intercooler and rotrex style blower. Wont make anymore power on top but will increase mid-range torque to be like the evolve and aa kits. But that also means a good price increase over the vortech unit.

We made the move to ESS some years ago and can say ESS without a doubt. Hardware and tuning are significantly better.

Check the 60-130 thread and you'll see the standings dominated by ESS: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=630463

VF has stopped development on the S65, ESS has better intake design and continues to develop for the S65.

I’m on the same boat, I’m leaning towards the VF.

ESS is a complete reversible kit. VF requires some modifications.

VF routes the air intake pipe forward and therefore requires you to cut off an airbox mounting bracket.

both make the same power output if you go with a different tuner,

VF has better choice of injectors using the larger bosch 123 injector (57lb) vs ess using the smaller 42lb injectors that max out the fuel system.

Ess has a better install as the bracket is one pc not 3 like the VF

Ess manifold is more pleasing to the eye but both flowregardless.

VF is easier to pick up a phone and get replacement parts. Ess you are restricted to a email.

Over all after owning 3 and installing others the ess kit is a win but I would suggest picking up long tip bosch 123 injectors and custom tune from another vender.

Did ESS switch to 42lb injectors? I thought they were still running 38lb for their 650 kits.

Any advantage to these new 123 injectors over 42lb green giants without running E85? Kawasaki00 recorded 83% duty cycle with a 650 pulley on the greens. That sounds fine to me and not maxing out the fuel system.

The bosche greens are modified to fit our rail with out using pacers. The bosche 123 is the 57lb injector that is long tip like our factory injectors

The blue injectors was uses are 42 lb modified injectors as well the black injectors they sell with the 625kit are the 38lb injectors.

My duty cycle may shave been higher due to the miles on my car.

When I spoke with Kawasaki00 after he posted his thread, he mentioned the 625 kit uses 36lb injectors (Bosch 124) and the 650 kit bumps up to 38lb. He chose to go with the greens because the 2lb bump wasn't enough to make a meaningful difference.

Wish I knew about these 57lb injectors before I upgraded from the black 124 that came with my 625 kit to greens. Would've saved me the hassle of fitting the fuel rail spacers if nothing else and they don't cost much more. My car runs great with the green injectors/94mm pulley and I don't plan on running E85 so sounds like there's no point in switching now, but I appreciate the info.

You drill out the rivets to remove the bracket. it is reattached with two m8 bolts

I believe the preference between the green giants and the 123's comes down to tuner. I was going to have ttfs tune my 650 setup and they are fans of the spray pattern of the green giants. Ultimately I had the 123's flow matched and had rktunes work his magic.
