Is it one of those deals where you "pay a little extra" to get around the problem or is there a better way? This is definitely one of the fears that has me "on pause". Last edited by Top_Gear; 02-03-2010 at 12:40 AM.. |

Not sure there is any getting around the system since it's all done by the computer..... However if all that the smog does is input it into the OBII then it can be made to pass. They haven't passed the "no programming changes" in CA yet have they? I'm sure ESS can make the car pass a sniffer test since it's just a 20mph and 30 mph idle dyno test.... I'm sure someone that is more of an expert then I am will chime in. you can read the DMV too..... http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/smogfaq.htm#BM2535 |

Even if the supercharged car can pass the sniffer test how does it pass the engine inspection test? That supercharger is pretty visible in the engine bay, and the letters "ESS TUNING" on the block pretty much give it away. Or is this something that these smog checkers don't report?
