I'm shocked!

When I ordered my cabrio on 3/10 the dealer said I would be able to take a slot they had in the queue. For days I didn't hear anything on estimated delivery. Given all the accounts of delays I've heard on this forum I was bracing myself for a Summer delivery.

I just called the 800# and they told me the car was in the paint shop and estimated completion was 3/18. Man that was fast! Don't know what the queue is for shipping and Performance Delivery but it looks like I'll have a Spring delivery, don't you think?

Once it's done it will probably take another 2 weeks before it's at your dealer.

Basically, a few days to get to get on board a cargo ship, about 1 1/2 weeks for cargo ship to arrive at your local port in either GA or SC, then a few days from the VDC to your dealer.

That is pretty optimistic based on recent history.

Some cars are at port from at least a week to multiple weeks lately. The fastest trip across to the east coast is 14-16 days. Then you have unloading, VPC and truck transport to the dealer. Then there is dealer prep for a day or more.

I would say three weeks from production end to east coast dealer would be a dream.

That gives me an April delivery. I'm sending it to the performance center which probably adds lead time. Anyway it looks like I'm going to be driving it this Spring. I'm ecstatic!

I was that way for days. I think I would be beside myself if it went on for weeks.

Estimate based on my experience 3 months ago with delivery to the NJ VDC. Of course there's always the possibility of a holdup at VDC. Luckily mine cleared in about 2 business days.

Uh, I don't know how this is possible, but I ordered March 14th (in the evening) and my CA just emailed and said mine went into production on the 17th and is currently at:

155 Assembly finish /quality check

Your dealer grabbed an allocation that had your options and was just heading to 150 status. Could be a car they had coming for another client who bagged or he traded another dealer with a car at last minute.

It very possible. Each dealer is given an allocation for each model based on the size of the dealer and sales. Smaller dealers get a smaller allocation, makes sense. For example, my dealer here in New Orleans is relatively small. They only get a few slots each month for cars like the M3. In fact, when the E60 was first introduced, my dealer only got two slots per month for the 545. I had to wait more than a month until a slot was available for my car to go into production.

Inerrant is in Virginia and you'd think this wouldn't be a problem but not knowing where in Va. it is possible that his dealer simply does not have a slot available.
