I notice that sometimes my ipad songs play in random song mode when I start up, when other times it will be alphabetical order. Is there a reason why it changes at random times? Not a big deal but just wondering.

Ah! Mine does the same thing and it annoys the hell out of me!

I will set mine to random on purpose and it will change back to regular. Not sure why it doesn't keep the settings.

I find that very annoying. I would love to keep my playlists on random.

I think it is this. If you have it in random mode and then toggle to find a song it will revert back to alphabetical.

My Mobridge unit does this too! Drives me nuts! It will also go back to the very beginning so I get to listen to the same damn Adelle song every time I start the car! I need to get that shit off of there.

Well that happens too but this isn't the problem. When I get out then back in my car, 9 times out of 10 lately it goes back to alphabetical. I've tried different scenarios: starting a song on my phone then getting in the car, completely closing down the iPod app, just opening the iPod app, having a playlist playing... And it usually ends up back in alphabetical. Pretty annoying. That first song has like 200 play counts, haha.

I don't know if the "problem" is on the phone or car side.

Sorry to bring an old thread back from the dead, but I'm running into the same problem.

'09 E90
Premium Audio
BMW iPod/iPhone cable
3rd Gen iPod nano

I like to play all my songs on 'random', but as soon as I turn off the car and restart (any duration either momentarily or overnight), the 'random' option is deselected and it begins playing songs in alphabetical order.

Is this an option that can be coded to default to the previous setting?

It is an annoyance for sure.
