Memory for EDC Setting

The manual states that whatever EDC setting the car is turned off with, is selected when you turn it back on (assuming same key). This does not work for me, all settings go back to (lights of) - softest.

Is this how it works for everyone else? Odd that BMW still prints the manual with incorrect data.

I had the same problem. All u do is push option button under M button mode and there is a "m key" setting. U set it there. Same as power n shift light on

That's I did it on my car but I have the iDrive. Don't think 1MORELAP has the iDrive. How is it done on non-iDrive cars?

I have ZCP option, but not i-Drive. My EDC function seems to work in the manner stated, going back to the last setting. The power button has a habit of surprising me by turning itself on occasionally (I never use it). The technology of these cars is impressive and, for the most part and for most folks, useful, I suppose. The last street/track car I had was a 996 GT3, and it was kind of nice having nothing to think about except turn the key and drive.

Definitely. I'd probably pass on EDC and whatever tech gadget is available as an option next time around.

Anyone else with EDC or ZCP but no i-Drive? Does your car remember the POWER and EDC button settings?

ZCP & no i-drive. Power & EDC settings recalled every time I fire it up. I only use one key and the car uses only one driver!

Thank you DBH. Anyone else? I will use this thread for BMW Customer Service and the dealer. BTW, BMW Customer Service has so far been terrific.

My 2011 ZCP (w Idrive) does this (ie. doesn't remember my last setting when turning the car on again) and my supplemental owner's manual states that it should. I asked the dealer the last time I was in; they didn't have any info. on it, but gave me props for reading my owner's manual. I was told they were going to research it more, though I fear this has likely died on their end. Any feedback from others with this issue? I find it a little annoying always having to push one more button when you get going every time and I don't feel I should have to go full M-mode each time (though the thought has crossed my mind...).

I was under the impression that with iDrive you have the access and can set the upon startup setting for EDC and "Power". Therefore, this ought to be an easy task for you. I on another hand regret not getting the iDrive as it also would have come with Audio Bluetooth Streaming pn my 2011 while the non Idrive cars although equipped with the combox do not have a stereo that supports that. Very annoyed at BMW for the complete lack of clarity as to what their option configurations actually do. IMHO, they went so far that they ought to make iDrive a standard feature while mayb just charing extra for the Nav module. End o rant. I love the car, and my Akra still puts a smile on my face every day.
