Because you're essentially just bouncing the lights off the inner ones to the outer rings. The outside ring will never truly be 100% lit up unless you get LED aftermarket rings

Go full retro and turn them off. So classic, it's pre-halo.

You're right.
My point is that they are factory/OEM parts (though not options) that could be ordered with the car before production or delivery.
Many E9x's were spec'd this way.
Port install or not, the parts themselves are Genuine BMW and designed specifically for the car.

Regarding the LRP, most I've seen left the factory with chrome grille surrounds & I've yet to confirm whether any left the factory with black ones, so you might be onto something here.

I must've been thinking a bit too fast when I was typing there, but my point stands. OEM black grilles are 100% appropriate/correct on the car.
To use BMW's own terminology, they are 100% ORIGINAL BMW TEILE.
Even taking away the LRP, there are still E9x M3s - M3 Edition, GTS, CRT, Competition Edition, Frozen ___ Editions, and BMW Individual builds - that left the factory with an array of parts from the aforementioned catalogue, including black grilles.
To support my friends point, here is a pic of perhaps the last new E92 for sale. It's an LRP edition, and even though the grilles are chrome, it sports the CF lip fairings installed at the port. It's also on the monroney label. Car has 6 miles on it currently.

Point taken. I remember seeing the photos of the last M3 Coupe ever on the production line back in summer of 2013.
It was an LRP with chrome surround grilles as well.

I can't believe there's still a brand-new one sitting at a dealership.
I'm surprised it hasn't sold (or has it been sold and the owner just wants to let it sit?)
Either way, agreed with your caption, hope it gets driven & revved out like it deserves, instead of just sitting.

Anyhow I'm going to spare OP the trouble and attempt to steer this thread back on topic with a neutral photo (not mine) of "angel eyes"/corona rings.

You stopped at retro sealed beam?
Son, I am disappoint. Nothing more OG than pop-up headlights.

That’s true you got me there. BUT for an authentic look one or both need to be stuck in the 2/3 open position

I personally love the OEM look and would not change over to LED.
Interesting that you guys saw it that way. I have oem on one car and Lux on the other. I prefer the look of the Lux.
I'm kinda with u on this one. However, I like both n I alternate between them once I get bored of what I'm running. My wife thinks I'm an idiot thinkin about this !!! Lol!!! N I ain't as lucky as you to have 2 E9X's !!!

Thanks for Posting the pick....Either Way it looks amazing on a white M3...the same can be said for a Jerez M3.

Bottom line I'll take either. At least we have proper round halos unlike the new BS angular crap coming out of the "///M" Audi division.
Oh and twin kidney grills that don't touch the headlights...with a proper hood and a large displacement NA engine that sings REAL tunes in the cabin.

End of rant.

My car had LED angel eyes when I picked it up 2mo ago. I didn't know what brand of bulb, but didn't really like them anyway. They were blue'ish white, and looked aftermarket.
I put in some Osram H8 halogens last night and turns out the LEDs were Lux V3.
What is the difference between V3 and .. V5?

Before, halfway done, fin. Man, the passenger side housing is hard to get your hand around.

Mine have a control switch where you can change the color temperature. I assume that’d be the major difference

Maybe I would have kept the Lux if mine could be toned down to pure white. I did not see an adjuster on the V3.

I went with the GT-LM look and put a set of Piaa H8 Plasma Ion bulbs straight in for a true yellow look ... I had the same ones in my last M3 too
Here is a sweet set-up from BMW @ Pebble Beack that looks very similar in colour to my Piaa H8 Plasma Ion

I know, right? BUT the halos are a pretty distinct and distinguishing cosmetic feature of these cars and I guess we all have strong and varying opinions on it!
