Cut it a little too close...

I know I've needed new tires for a while (rear with just over 10k miles on them), but just got around to getting them changed yesterday. This was the worse of the two:

BTW - I haven't done a single burnout with these tires, but did two track days (not much wear on back tires tho) and do a bit of spirited driving.

Wow. Please tell me that is not from everyday driving! Am I really going to need new tires at 10K?

10K miles of what? Burnouts and drifts?

Everyday driving, not a single burnout. That did include two track days, but I don't think that caused very much wear.

No burnouts, two track days, and pretty agressive daily driving. I'm surprised they only lasted this long...I've done similar driving on other sports cars and they've lasted more in the 18k range.

What psi are you running? Looks like they could be overinflated a little to wear like that.

There is nothing NORMAL about that. That would be well over 20K probably way more of normal driving.

Meh, these tires have another 5K on them at a minimum.

Ouch! It does appear that these tires have been run overinflated. The wear is dead center as opposed to the outer edges of the tire (which I'd expect to see from aggressive cornering, etc). Do you keep an eye on your tire pressure?? If so, what are you running them at?

Burnouts are the only thing that will cause that.

Seems like a weird wear pattern for track day related wear (usually the outer shoulders will cord first). But wear can be quite quick on a track. I could cord a set of brand new street tires in a few hours on a track if that was the goal.

I had more tread than that(2/32-3/32) and I had to drive on the highway on a very rainy day... it was kind of scary actually. I don't know what the hell you were thinking.
