I don't entirely agree. I have the comfort and competition packages-didn't really specifically want either, but the car came spec'ed that way and I bought late so I couldn't custom order.

I do like the EDC, the MDM and the navigation, but could have done without them. I'm very glad to not have electric powered seats, etc. because I really don't want to add more weight to an already borderline bloated sedan.

Decide what you want and what you want to pay for. One really nice option is the homelink garage door-but that can be added with a new rear view mirror in any case.

The strange thing is that the new models have a nav that might seem to appear more up to date, but will most likely age far less well. On the current gen the nav looks like an afterthought. At least the nav on this car looks like it was designed before the car was built.

your car is worthless being an M3 without NAV even if you don't want it, plus no idrive sucks!
i understand a new car not dropping money on the nav, but when you resell all the non-nav cars sit.... most importantly the tech package has so much more to offer that you are crazy to not look for another car with tech

You sir obviously don't understand that alot of people driving M cars are drivers first and prefer simpler cars.

Shit my e46 with manual cloth seats and no nav was VERY highly sought after

lol at the responses in this thread, shows alot about where the M brand is today.

The only thing the M3 "needs" is the v8, everything else is childs play.

Sunroof was only ever available standalone, and the rear parking sensors were always available standalone and then later also as part of the short-lived Convenience Package for 2011.5. Can't remember if they became part of the 2012+ Premium Package.

But if your 08 has folding mirrors, M Drive, and headlamp washers, you have all of the packages available from that time. After that it's just standalone options like DCT, 19s, Premium Audio, Sirius, auto high beams, alarm, and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting.

Actually you have no idea what the market is like these days. People like the technology gizmos and bells and whistles. It's a small market of people who actually take their cars to the track or enjoy the car for what it is. As a purist, you or I just need a nice v8, a shifter to row, and the windows down. For a majority of the M owners, they prefer to retain their creature comforts.
