Extended Warranty

Will adding a Supercharger to my E92 void the warranty? The dealer said that as long as it was installed by a reputable shop it shouldn't matter. I then told him I planned on tracking the car. He says that not to reveal that information that you're tracking the car. It sounded like he just wanted me to get the extended warranty and if he said those situations would leave the car uncovered, i wouldn't purchase the warranty.

Yeah, skip the warranty. The answer is that you have to assume it will.

Of course he did, he likely makes a commission on selling it to you. You would need to see the full contract and read all the fine print but my USAA/Assurant extended warranty was voided by any modification beyond cosmetic, including exhaust. Almost didn't get my throttle actuators covered because of my Akra exhaust but my indy shop went to bat for and made sure the adjuster understood the exhaust had not impact on the TA's. He covered them but he did note the modifications including the exhaust, BBK, a Dinan CF airbox among others...

I guess I'll hold off on a Supercharger until the warranty runs out. I purchased a 4 year warranty. I'm doing the OEM exhaust mod and a Dinan intake this week. Thanks!

You should remove the intake prior to any service.

BMW doesnt guarantee Dinan parts. Dinan gives you a warranty on their parts. The reason you would remove it is so BMW does not deny service to you as your warranty clearly states that modification of the car voids the warranty.
