ACM Review
Hey guys,
Just figured I would write a long over due review for some work i had done on my SSII e92 ///M3 back in March. No pics cause the car is at the dealership getting some work done (replacement USB jack module). As soon as I get it back, I will add pics----> so no or pics or Work Done: *Purchased and installation of gloss black side markers (which I believe they got from IND) *Purchase and Installation of BMW ///M Non-Electric Performance steering wheel *ACM OEM Exhaust Mod, Painted canister, matte black 2.5" tips (3" ones way too big IMO) *50% Tinted windows side and rear, windshield left stock *Hardwired install of Escort 9500xi with remote control module Ease of Dealing: I think I speak for most when I say that the whole crew there was awesome to deal with. Allowed me into the shop a bit to see what they are working on (which is a big deal if you know anything about liability insurance, etc.). Got to see the e39 ///M5 project in its infant stages which was cool!!! The pricing was spot on----were they the cheapest? No. Do I care? No. Why? You get what you pay for. If you want the small, passionate and dedicated tuners to stay alive as cars and what you have to do to properly mod them has become more and more expensive along with the cost of doing business in this country and the expectations continue to rise then you have to be willing to pay to play----WITH ANYTHING. If they can't make money, they won't stay in business. So when I see reviews about how I could have done my OEM mod for cheaper, I say get over it. It was nice for a professional to do it, and it puts money in their pocket and keeps them around for the bigger projects I COULDN'T DO. Quality of Workmanship: Can't say enough on this subject. SPOT ON. Radar Install: awesome and clean. Nice job, especially for getting the module hidden properly. Side Markers: obviously clean and great, but we know this to be easy, but figured it was in, might as well have them do it though I know the DIY is simple. Steering Wheel: pretty straightforward install, but done flawlessly. Tinted Windows: I have had other cars with tinted windows and this is one of the best installs I have seen. The dot matrix in the back was not perfect, but perfect considering the famous dot matrix The side windows is where I judged, damn, perfect and clean install. Exhaust: first, to the parts that people don't focus on---> the tips. Perfectly spaced and that means the whole system was done flawlessly. No fitment issues WHATSOEVER. Now onto the more subjective subject of sound / drone. To be perfectly clear, I think this system drones. But, not because of the system but because of the car. I remember that this car made a "humming" sound with the stock exhaust that was NOTICEABLY louder and of a totally different tone at 2k under load, or around 27-3200 regardless of load level or gear. But never realized what it was till the ACM was put on. I think that is why they made the stock exhaust so quiet, to make sure people were not annoyed. That being said, after about a week I got used to it, and the wife isn't bothered by it at all. The sound---> SICK. PERFECT. SHOULD HAVE COME THIS WAY OUT OF THE FACTORY. My best friend who is a car nut as well, always said from the first day I got the car and he heard it that it was missing an exhaust for such an epic beast. He heard the ACM and said it sounded PERFECT. He says it brings out the exotic side of the engine, which he and I both think is fitting for the S65. I think when people use exhaust mods to make the car sound more like a Mustang they are doing the engine and ///M engineers a disservice. Every car nut in my town knows my car, and they all have commented over the last few weeks that it finally sounds like it should. Radar Detector: perfect install, will post pics later (see beginning of post). So overall, this was a great experience and will lead me to some more mods in the future. This car is a keeper, and I didn't cross shop, I knew what I wanted and will always own ///Ms, this one will just be a little more rare and special than most so this one I bought and will never dump, the newer ones I will lease Questions, PM or post and I will respond to everyone of them. Cheers, e46e92 PICS!!!!:

Awesome review. These guys are epic. I love the ACM exhaust, and really do miss it. I've got test pipes and Borla (S-type) now and it just doesn't have the same kind of volume the ACM muffler alone had.
