Foxwell NT510 is better than generic. For $150. And you get one free brand specific module when you register.

Will the foxwell clear those errors and restore all the dynamic driving capabilities? There are no CEL notifications left.

Also from what I read, most people don't have to reset or clear any codes.

I have a 2010 E90 M3 with 81k miles. Had code 27BB (Fuel system Lambda - bank2), 2B16 (throttle controller monitoring -bank 2). Car went in limp mode. I replaced the throttle actuator gears with the Odometer gears replacements on both bank 1 and 2 actuators. Re-installed. Note that one of the actuators (bank 1) had been replaced by previous owner at 40k, but bank 2 actuator was original (81k miles).

I put the older actuator (2009 date code) on bank 1 and the 2014 date code actuator on bank 2 (both with new odometer gears). Now I’m getting codes 2B21 (throttle pre-drive check bank 1) and car in limp mode permanently (doesn’t go away after clearing code). I also get code 5E19 (DSC ECU internal. Serial peripheral interphase (SPI) ID request not accepted. Coil outlet valve shorted front right…).

Is this just a wiring/connector that isn’t making good contact, or what do you think?

I noticed that the two electrical leads that connect the motor to the circuit board have a spot welded joint at the 90 degree bend coming out of the motor. In both of my actuators both joints were failing leading to a poor electrical connection. Just wiggling the connectors I was seeing a large resistance variation due to the spot welded connection.

One theory is that the spot welded joint is insufficient and failing due to thermal cycling or vibration. This could certainly wreak havoc with the power drivers for the motor causing premature failure.

My solution was to solder this connection with a large iron tip. They are solid now with no deviation. I see about 2.5 ohm with good connections.

Something to definitely check if you have your actuators apart.

Throttle Actuator Weight

Hey Guys,

I am just wondering if anyone knows how much the throttle actuators actually weigh? I am trying to sort out sending them to the UK!

That is a nice scale Dan. With the box and some padding to keep the actuators safe you will be looking at 5 to 6lbs Number96

What a great read this thread is. It's the epitome of what this forum once used to be. M Power Motorsports has now become Euro Parts Palace:

https://eupartspalace.com/product/bm...ttle-actuator/
.
I recently had a good experience doing business with them. I needed rapid shipping because my car was down and in the shop. I bought two T.As from them, they were shipped within a few days, and they work flawlessly.

This thread is definitely worth reading to learn more about the failure modes and preventive maintenance lubrication of T.As butterfly shaft bearings as well as gear set and circuit board component failures.

it's got a different gate-source threshold and gate-source max (Vgs th and Vgs) depending on what the system sees and the design expectations that may be material

Yes. I'm wondering what others might be wondering. Is there a new proper source for the transistors? Thanks. Why pay $40 for 10 when you can have 50 of them for the same price. Allows me to do others. These cars are going to be around for a while.

Looks like Farnell has the HUFA76429D3ST_F085 (using part number from Post #185) for $1.13ea if looking to save a few bucks. Octopart is good for comps.
