BMW M3 E92 ZCP - Colour Change Frozen Silver to xx Silver
Hey BM Owners,
I have to change my car colour from Matt to Gloss due to legislation in the middle east. I have been fighting the government for 2 years but alas, i am forced to change. I currently have the Frozen Silver colour. I am planning to sell this M3 within 6 months and get myself a newer m3/m4/m6. I was thinking that my best option is to repaint the car direct to another shade of BMW Silver so that I do not need to change any paperwork and that I do not loose any value on the car due to it being resprayed. I do believe that Silverstone II A29 is the standard E92 M3 Silver Gloss colour, and this is my logical choice for the car. But I notice there is a new shade of silver released in the newer BMWs. Glacier Silver Metallic A83. My question to you guys is do you think it is wise to swap to Silverstone 2 or Gacier Silver Metallic? My thinking with the Silverstone 2 is that it will just pass as a standard M3 with no issues. But with the glacier silver, it's more on trend in 2019 and might have more appeal for the resale. People may pick pick out the shade of silver and purchase the car, without actually knowing its a 2019 shade. I had this convo with the garage and a couple of friends, but didn't really get any useful advice. If I am honest, I dont really like these colours myself. |

Why even bother painting it and ruining a special color? Just sell it and get your f8x now

Wrap or gloss PPF is my vote. Please don't ruin Frozen Silver.
If you HAVE to repaint, go with a standard M3 color or an individual color (if you can reproduce) |

How about you kick those dumb fucks in the face and keep the matt finish. What is wrong with people?! Why is it illegal?!
Definitely don't paint a beautiful frozen car.

Since matte paint is just normal paint with a matte clear coat, why don't you just have it wet sanded and polished to a normal gloss paint job?
Not sure what exact color silver it is, but or how it would look, but its a thought and would probably be worth trying first before you spend the expense to have it painted. You might also be able to figure out what color silver it actually it is so you will know how it would look. Just get the paint code for the base coat and compare it to existing bmw silvers since it might be a color used on existing cars. |

Yep, SSII A29 is the E90 M3 official color.
Here is what one could do. It's easy to get a mat car look glossy with some carnauba paste wax. Carnauba is completely natural and will not cause any damage. Then simply let them know you have re-painted the car with a gloss paint. They can look at it, it's ok. Carnauba wax will wash itself off in a couple of month. |
