Here's what I use:

http://www.norcoindustries.com/produ...del/81208.html

A bit overkill but I can get the car level with these on one end and a set of 8" Race Ramps on the other. They were the only ones I could find made in the USA at the time too.

They've very robust. I've been under the car a plethora of times with them, never any worries. Coupled w/some ramps, they allowed me enough space to change out my exhaust/x-pipe, put on coilovers, and misc other under car duties. 10/10.

LOVE...LOVE...LOVE my ESCO jack stands!!! I bought four of them and have put the ///M up on all four several times now. Totally stable! No worries being under the car. They are solid and I haven't had a second thought about safety once the car is propped up on all four. Totally recommend!!!!!

Your post is very timely! I was just logging on to see what the model numbers were since I am going to order a set (got a load of maintenance items coming up). Just curious...why the Esco instead of the Torin?

What's up slick......a couple of people I've spoken with speak very highly of the Esco's. One constant thing I keep hearing is how stable they are when jacking the car from the side to use four stands. Maybe we can try to get a deal if we get a couple of sets. Let me know which way you go.........Phil

Hey, Phil. You talked me into the 10499's. Was going to get two pair (with the swivel blocks).

I was just looking at purchasing these.

Unfortunately I can't find them offerered with only the swivel blocks anymore (have to buy the flat tops and then a set of swivel blocks on top $$).

Are the swivel blocks really worth it? Seems like they may be more difficult to use since you have a smaller target vs the large flat tops?

Totally agree with this. No jackstand anxiety at all. I think I have the 10498 version, though, which is a bit taller. No issues. I don't have the swiveling blocks.

This is the review that swayed me when I was deciding on jackstands:

I'm not doing the blocks......the guys I've talked to say they aren't needed. And
I'm going to go with the 10498 since they are taller.........Phil

What lift points/sequence do you use to get the car up on the stands. Seems that there really isn't a rear center jack point on my 1M, so you have to lift from the side jack point, which only gets one side of the car up. It's also difficult to let the car down onto the stand softly.

I use where the subframe meets the lower A arm.

My sequence is tedious and a PITA!!!

1: Jack up one side at the forward most jack point on the side of the car
2: place block under the front wheel in order to keep the front of the car high enough to get the jack under the front center jack point
3: jack the front of the car up as high as it will go
4: place a jack stand under each of the two forward most side jack points
5: wheel the jack to the rear of the car
6: raise the entire rear section by jacking up the rear subframe
7: place jack stands under the rear most side jack points
8: remove jack

...done.

To get it down, i just go in reverse.

If i had a low-profile jack I could eliminate the first two steps, and i plan on investing in one soon. But for now, that is how I do it.

Also...

I like to use my stands with a jack pad adapter...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It isn't necessary, but it keeps the side jack points on the car from getting messed up.

Hope this helps.

Yeah works well. Lift time is slow mechanical with a drill, and that is also max height but easier than jack stands and lots of room for creeper.

I think another maker sells something like the old EZ lift but for more like $1200. Not bad if you need portability or cannot fit a real lift. I bought a new 2 post for $1400 a few years ago from Greg smith equipment.
