WTB: e90 M3 Driveshaft (DCT)
Looking for a used e90 M3 driveshaft (DCT) in the Texas area. It is for Driveshaft Specialists in San Antonio. They will remanufacture the unit and ship it to me in Los Angeles.
If anyone is parting out an e9x M3, your driveshaft is wanted for a transplant. Cheers |

The u-joint on these 2 piece BMW M3 driveshafts is not serviceable. When the u-joint is worn due to high mileage, then it creates this hollow metallic clink noise.
There are a few options: NOTE: Different P/Ns for the manual vs DCT driveshafts - Driveshaft Specialists of Texas has remanufactured driveshafts made with OEM BMW parts. They provide the driveshaft for < $500 + $150 core charge with return shipping included. The individual OEM BMW parts cost more than this driveshaft unit (a steal). http://www.driveshaftspecialist.com/...0html/BMW.html - Turner Motorsports has a remanufactured driveshaft with a serviceable u-joint upgrade. It is $800-900 including the $180 core charge and return shipping. Shipping is $30 from Az. The supplier is in Az. Remanufactured shaft with BMW OEM joints and accessories. Twice as expensive as the DSI unit....but it is in stock. DSI never has stock for these older model M3s. Price bounces from $800-$900. https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3...ission-032008/ - BMW OEM Driveshaft is >$1500 new. Not sure if the extra hardware (Center Bearing and CV Joint) is included. Looks like it is, plus with a new Guibo. https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-5...uine-bmw-part/ - Driveshaft Pros in CA has replacement driveshafts with a serviceable u-joint, but they use aftermarket parts <$600. Shops located in San Diego, Ventura, Gardena and Long Beach/Garden Grove, etc. I think they make the remanufactured driveshafts in Garden Grove and do installs there as well. https://www.driveshaftpro.com/ NOTES: Get all new bolts and exhaust gaskets, plus tranny mounts (Febi OE) and collar. BYOG - Bring your own Guibo. (Febi OE unit is $85-120). I am waiting for a driveshaft core (DCT P/N 665) to show up at Driveshaft Specialist of Texas, so I can order one. They can build a new driveshaft tube with BMW OEM joints and accessories, but I don't want to go down that path. There is a BMW service bulletin about greasing the rear CV joint or behind it. I doubt that causes the metallic clunk. SI-B33-04-08 https://www.bmwcca.org/forum/index.p...axle-pdf.2156/ While the M3 driveline clink is abby normal, I would get it fixed within a year. I have no vibration, only the noise. I have new motor mounts after a rod bearing service plus new front wheel bearings, so the engine is smooth. If you have a driveline vibration, then get it fixed ASAP. The cost of a remanufactured driveshaft is reasonable. If you are upgrading your exhaust, do both jobs together. Use a good BMW Indie Shop.
