Talk about throwing a rod. There was literally a piece of a connecting rod laying on the ground.

Agreed completely...

1) S65.... Sound and Thrill of driving an 8.4K redline v8
2) F80+.. Can beat the s65 by a second or less at a drag strip; electric steering, bla bla... all while pumping fake engine noise through the stereo..

I don't think this incident by itself is what resulted in the rod going through the block, rather how this guy must have treated this car up until this happened.

It would have been funny if the cameraman slipped on the oil.

Wait.. what does this video have anything to do with an F8x M3/M4?

LOL, we went from an S65 spilling its guts to hating on the S55.

It's the internet. I'm just surprised nobody's blamed what happened in that video on Trump or Obama yet. Throwing a little shade at the new M3/M4 doesn't seem so bad, considering haha.

The real question is was it a DCT or manual?

Yeah maybe he does this 1st thing in the morning when starting it and the oil is cold

Also have zero sympathy because that's just abusing the car. Poor S65

Seems like an edited video to scare us. They won't even show a clear shot of the car, or the engine. No smoke coming from engine bay???

Totally agree. Sure it was revving for a bit but so what. There is quite a lot of fairly long term high revving done on the tracks with these cars. Or check out the high speed videos, going full metal through the gears up to 300km/h is a close to revved out exercise for quite some time. This engine I believe was on its way out...

the one variable everybody's forgetting about is there is basically zero airflow through the radiators and oil cooler for most of that video ... that's why it overheats and blows up

True, good point. Would imagen the driver kept an eye on the temp but...maybe not. Also, never been close to over temped but assume engine mgmt would reduce fule or something?

BTW, another example of proper revving, although with cooling:

Observations

1. If you are going to blow an engine, what a lame way to go. On a drag strip, sure - going around in circles, stupid.

2. Blair Witch cameraman needs to watch a few more videos to get better

3. It was a beautiful car. R.I.P

I did not know it overheated and blew up. I thought it was just an engine failure. There is a big electric fan to provide airflow at lower speeds.

watch any pull on a Dyno and they have at least one if not two huge fans in the front blowing air over the radiators/coolers usually with the hood up trying to make sure that the internals are kept cool and at a regular operating temperature
