E92 M3 Oil Pan Replacement

Hi All,

I’ve been looking for a DIY oil pan replacement article or video but can’t seem to find a solid one anywhere.

I’m about to replace the oil pan on my 13’ M3 (Due to it leaking) and want to make sure I’m not missing anything before I start the job. I have all parts, even a lift in my garage, but I’m reading about the need to support the engine/subframe which is a concern.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look for a rod bearing DIY. Pulling the pan is the first part. Yes, you need to lower the front subframe which means you must support the engine from above. A $59 or whatever harbor freight engine support bar worked great for me, using the front lift hook.

Thanks, pbonsalb. Something like this? https://m.harborfreight.com/1000-lb-...bar-96524.html

That is the one I used. But there are fancier ones for more money that some think you need. The rear is supported by the trans, which is mounted to a brace under the car, so all you need is a front upper support that can hold some of the 450 lb engine weight. STT_shadow has a DIY for the rod bearings that includes the subframe.
