Carbon Roof - Blistering!

Hello,

Has anyone ever experienced carbon roof blistering?
I have attached some photos.

Would really love to fix this up.

Unsure what the process is?
Never worked with Carbon before.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Does this car sit outside all day for that to happen? Or did you buy it that way?

The car is 2012. I noticed the discolouring around a year back, and the blistering just recently.

It sleeps 100% of its life in underground car park.
Seldom does it get left in direct sunlight with exception to driving it about.

I am however based in Middle East, so it hot and sunny all the time.
85f in winter and 125+ in Sumner.

I expect its the heat that caused it.
The roof is very hot after a 30min drive

I really hope it can be sanded down and just clear coated. Or even sanded smooth and then a carbon fibre wrap put back over it.

Had this issue on my car due to a reflection of sunlight bouncing off my neighbor's window. However, my damage was much worse than this.

Tried going through insurance which was a nightmare, so I found a competent body shop to handle the issue.

The roof is epoxy coated. The process is to remove that old coating, either scraping or high pressure air. Once that's removed, you prep the roof by sanding, and then re-coating the roof with 2-3 coats of clear coat. I had the clear coat tinted and not only does the roof not have anymore damage or yellow-ing, it literally looks brand new.

I think it's poor quality work. In any case, the quality of the roof had to provide for high temperatures, or at least have a warning. But it is foolish to produce such roofs that are sensitive to temperatures.
Be that as it may, if this bothers you, you need to look for a master who will remove it with a cutter and tighten it with a film in a new way

You will need to have the existing clear coat removed and then re-clear coated. A car body repair paint shop can do this.

I got a quote indicating the need for such work for this as my '07 (euro version) also needs re-epoxying the roof clearcoat. I was informed they will first sand lightly by hand to remove the pores and/or scratches and remove the inconsistencies by a razor blade, then spray several coats in a befitting manner of epoxying the raw carbon fiber surface. Approximately around $2000.
