How much $$$ to get H&R springs installed?
Hello,
I'll drop off my M next week for a DCT software update at the dealer. I'll have them swap out my stock springs with H&R springs, what would be a common price for this job? I guess the warranty related to all parts of the suspension will be canceled right? Thanks Alex |

Just talked to the dealership.
They would charge me $900 to change the springs. I said that this is a lot more than I've expected, he said it's a 7hrs. job to change the front springs alone...? What's up with that? Does it realy take 7hrs. for just the fronts? Thanks Alex |

Just found a DIY for aftermarket springs.
It takes 2-4 hrs to change front and rear... What's up with my dealer...? I probably will do it myself. Did anyone change the springs with only a car-jack instead of a lift? Thanks Alex |

The dealer is nuts when it comes to labor charges. It took my shop less than 2 hours to do it. Any competent shop can get it done in 3 to 4 hours MAX...with time wasted!!!
It's a pretty easy DIY, and yes a good race jack and stands is sufficient. I did Coilovers on my old M3 in my garage with no lift. A buddy to help out will definitely make life much easier though.

It's not that hard to do, and NO WAY it should be 7hrs!! I'm surprised the dealer would even do it.
Don't forget about the alignement afterwards.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Also, you should try to get the E36 M3 front bump stops to give you a little more travel. It's what Dinan uses on their kit.
Not sure if it's recommended on the rears.

Well, since this is what Dinan does I'd assume it's ok? |

Definitely do it. There are was a very nice write up here showing what Dinan uses for bump stops and how they shaved the front strut hats down.
