I think the DW’s squishiness actually came from the two rows teeny outside shoulder blocks. ECS is much more like the pss and ps4s with much less void area than the DW In that outside shoulder tread.

The V12 evo2 is a pretty decent tire, definitely worth the $600 for a set.

Can second that . Never owned a set , drove an M w 19" sizes, unbearably harsh. Just on that basis I'd never buy a set.

Rich - promising the ECS has been rewarding and Pss comparable. It's sure a better cost efficient street tire.

V12 evo2 is a pretty good sliding tire. Even at 295/35 rear it would kick out for some fun times. The PS4s is a good daily tire but I am unimpressed with dry grip. I guess I was spoiled with the grip R888r had in the dry when I daily'd those. However for rain, PS4s all the way! lol. Overall, I'm pretty upset with the way PS4s was hyped up and how it actually performs for me. Seems like the same performance when I had the PSS.

You must drive very aggressively on the street if you find the limits of the PS4S are too low/unimpressive.

I figured I better circle back on this thread now that I have had 275/30/19 PS4S all the way around on my car for about 1,000 miles now. I am very impressed with both the dry and wet grip, but the kicker to me is how much quieter they are than the PSS were. I ended up getting the set for ~$1,100 and at the time of purchase, the ECS would have only been about ~$150-200 less so I went with Michelin and am not disappointed.

I've had a lot of great experience with Michelin for the daily driver (as3+) and on reading this thread and others just put in an order for ps4s for the summer season as well. Glad they are working out for you!

I am huge advocate for the PSS, and wanted to upgrade to the PS4S when my set was done. But last year they didn't have my size, so I was forced to get the Extreme Contact Sport.

I'm extremely impressed with the tire, and they make my car feel like it's AWD. There is something about driving them on the limit, it feels like it's just digging teeth into the ground, very weird feeling but it's actually given me a lot of confidence when pushing it.

Old PSS are loud. Most tires get louder as they age. They also seem to ride rougher as they harden.

I don’t think they hit their stride until you get them a bit hotter than daily regular driving gets them, one of the few true street tires I’ve used that I have felt “switch on” in the middle of a corner after driving slow/straight for a while

Michelin always for me, I'm not sure why after 1-year use of Continentals they end up being extremely noisy.

The DWs did that to me too. Not as bad as PSS but bad enough.

I have 11000 miles on my set of ECS now and the noise level hasn’t changed much to my ear. At 6/32” tread right now.

Its does have a slight stretch, but mainly pretty square though.



This was my 2013 M3 when I just bought it and switched out to a GTS sizes. It now runs on 19X10 and 19X11 with a 275/295 setup.

I have GPS speed in the car and typically keep the car's indicated velocity on the gauge cluster.

If my car indicates 84 MPH, my GPS speed indicates 80-81 MPH (must be right at the bubble...84.7 indicated in the car may equal 81 on the GPS whereas 80.2 on the car indicates 80 on the GPS for example). I find myself typically driving on the highway at 80 MPH.

So vehicle indicated speed is roughly 5% higher than GPS indicated.

I think it fits nicely.

What are you planning on running up front?

I have 255/35 on the front and my OCD can certainly see the larger sidewall up front compared to the rear 285/30.

Also for what it's worth, I'm tacking on 5% more miles than actual

Agreed. No idea what all the hype was about with those. Mushy sidewalls and horrible steering response. Grip was OK, but overall the most overrated tires I've ever driven.

I liked them as cheap DD tires for my old WRX. Were they ever hyped for their performance? I thought it was always about their value proposition.
