Free Maintenance, did it play a roll in your M3 lease/purchase?

How much of a factor was BMW's free maintenance in your decision in leasing or buying your BMW M3? The new C63 AMG Coupe looks amazing but reports say tires will last ~10k and I am not someone who likes changing tires that frequently. I also looked at the maintenance prices and it was a bit, well scary. Amazing how much care these high performance cars need.

Did it even matter to you? Please don't tell me if you can afford the car you can afford the maintenance. That's not the answer I'm looking for. :P

None really... if you think about it BMW is offering 3 free oil changes, 1 set of spark plugs, and 1 brake job. And some other small things like differential and manual transmission servicing...

This is if you drive the car 50k miles in the 4 years of ownership. In my opinion the maintenance plan is nice, but was not even a factor in buying the M...

Agreed! And the plan does NOT cover tires so you're still paying for those out of pocket. My M3 came wit PS2's and I'm at 6.3k miles and plenty of tread left. If I'm lucky I'll get close to 15k...

Not at all. I actually do not want BMW's free oil changes. I will be changing the oil every 4k miles when it arrives. I will probably get the oil changed at the dealer when it prompts me too just so its documented for warranty purposes.

I'm super anal when it comes to my cars. When I got my Lexus IS350 I didn't even take the car in for the complimentary free first oil change at the dealer. There is no one that takes care of your care like yourself.

None as this so called free maintenance is already rolled into the purchase price.

I agree with the above sentiment. I'm not a high miler and at this point I won't need a brake service within the complimentary maintenance period.

New tires on the other hand are simply a given when you own a high power rear-wheel drive car especially one that's a tad heavy.

As a lease it was icing on the cake.

I looked at c2s, c63s but the price on the lease of the m3 was too good to pass up. To know that maintenace was included just made it that much better of a deal.

Amazing what Fully loaded M3 Coupes are going for. Especially if you're a loyal BMW customer. C63 AMG Coupes from initial reports from my dealer have told me to expect ~$900-1000+ a month because AMG isn't BMW M. AMG is Prestigious.

Some say that c63 or m3 is like maintaining a plane. I own both m3 and c63, besides regular oil change and air filter, nothing extra. Also how long does the tire on the c63 last is based on your right leg

Nope-negligible factor when I purchased my 335i as well as my M3. Both are low mileage vehicles so maintenance inclusive was a moot point for me.

i must admit it does factor in for me (as it would for other premium cars that include the maintenance).

although i agree that the cost is "included" in the price, i enjoy the simplicity and predictability of the maintenance plans. when you're already "paying to play" with one of these cars, it feels right to be taken care of in all respects.

What some are forgetting here are the 3,000; 7,500; 15,000; etc., mile inspections that other makers require. An Infinity of mine cost over $2,000 in these "mandatory" inspections and this was not counting any repair work that was done. A manufacturer would probably have a hard time denying warranty work because the owner didn't have his wiper blades inspected at 7,500 but that won't stop them from trying and the owner would probably not prevail unless he goes to court. That is one of the nice things with the BMW, if it says take it to the dealer then you take it to the dealer and you're not wasting your time getting four sets of inspections when one plus an oil change will do.

None as the dealer won't ever do any service on my car unless it's warranty work. Oil, etc won't be done by them.

We don't get free maintenance through Military sales & only a 2 year warranty while in Germany. Merecedes however offers us free maintenance.

not really, but it was one of those "cherry on top" items when i selected the M3. I just realized that Audi or MB or lexus also offered it as well. (can't remember which one)

10k for rear tires seems about the same as on a M3
