Hey Helmsman

If I think about it, its just around 5 bucks per month, wich is ok for what you can do with it and how mich money you actually save.

But the decision to benefit all of us that bought our Carly App and Carly OBD Adapter from the beginning was a really cool move

I am tired of this app. Every time I switch to another phone, it asks me to buy it again. Then, a new saga begins with their customer service, which is completely inadequate. The previous time that happened, it took months to resolve it

I've been able to restore purchases on iOS Devices without messaging customer support.

Cheers,

That's how it's supposed to work - device change should not have anything to do with app purchases. Carly's been the only exception for me and a bunch of other users, judging by the reviews in the Google Play Store

Must be an Android/Google Store thing. That sucks. You can always just get ISTA+ and stuff for free

Been disappointed with this app.
One friend's F30 could not make the iDrive accept screen warning go away. It was a first year car and early build.
Another friend with an F80, I couldn't get the mirrors to fold and windows go up.
And my wife's G30, it can't code shit, other than the iDrive accept screen.

From Impressed to Disappointment

When the product was BMWWhat it was awesome.

I purchase all the In-Apps that were available (now are all free) and they had served me well - in the beginning.

The problems began when wanting to clear some stubborn fault diagnostics codes, where it was recommended to buy their "Custom" OBD interface.

Ultimately this OBD purchase, was a waste of money and did no more than my existing unit.

After some time and update message came up which stated I need to update my program - which always came when no internet was in range and was frequently cause me to not be able to service as required, until an internet connection became available.

The "update" process forces you to unistall and re-install the "new" version and is where the problem is now - where the newest update requires me to buy a new tablet due to an incompatibility.

I have reported this numerous times and they (Carly) have no interest in fixing the problem, or allowing me to use an uninterrupted version (without nags).

I have asked for a full refund of the app and all the in-apps that they have effectively stolen from me - with no response.

Yeah I just noticed they changed the whole layout/interface inside the app and it's a bit confusing, clearing codes and reading data doesn't work the same as it did before.

There is a new startup screen, you just need to tap on "Features" to get to Coding, Diagnostics, etc. With this new version I'm having trouble connecting to the wifi adapter. It takes longer to connect and sometimes I have to unplug the adapter several times before it finally makes the connection. I never had connection issues with the previous version.

Be very careful!

BE VERY CAREFUL! This thing can cause a serious damage!
i have an e91 BMW. purchased the Carly OBD II an few months ago, and as a result the CAS module of my car got FRIED. This is exactly what the main Car service in my city said, too many programming (i only did it 4 times). Cost of CAS plus labor is about 800 euro, so think twice before you go and buy that non-useful gadget

In my personal experience, the Carly solution has been total garbage. Instead of going on an on about all of the reasons, let me put it this way: anyone who suggests that having issues with Carly are all user error, must have a conflict of interest going on. The many, many problems that numerous folks including myself have encountered with the app, the dongle, the interface itself, the company and it's extremely poor customer service all paint a clear and irrefutable picture.

Anyone considering Carly, don't waste your time, money and sanity. Just find a reputable company (some may be found right here on Bimmerpost) to do coding for you, that stands by their product and service.

I've got it and don't care for it. I'm used to apps like MHD for my 335i that are easy to use and get to the point. Carly is too busy trying to sell me things and is not vehicle specific like and app like MHD.

It wouldn't do a battery reset, despite their insisting it worked. I showed them the battery dashboard before and then after I paid a shop $75 to code it. They refunded me my money.

I like it for coding, but now it's just a feature-heavy mess. It's like Microsoft Word for BMW.

After being a bit of a fan I have to agree with this. It started off with good intentions and fair features, the interface was "engineering-like" which did the job fine. Since then the interface went over worked a'la web page, irritating busy. Haven't had issues with the actual feaures though but never used battery mgmt. Its a shame.

Edit, and what happened with the landscape presentation? Thought it worked fine having it laying in the ash tray while now its wiggling around standing. Wonder where that came from.
