Does having the GTS transmission tune affect smog if on stock ECU / No ECU tune?

Dinan engine tune or Dinan DCT tune will both pass for sure.

Idk about the others.

I don't believe the dct tune has anything to do with what they check for SMOG.

Did you read the article?

The new law in California states that the hardware scans for any tunes to the ECU.

So, although it doesn't seem like a transmission tune would affect smog… idk if this new scan would be triggered by a DCT or not.

There are many computers in the car. The ECU that California scans for an engine tune isn't the computer that controls the transmission tuning. They don't scan the suspension module either. If we had an electronic diff they also wouldn't scan that.

No, the GTS tune will not affect smog. Smog only reads ECU data, transmission EGS module is not read during this process

Just flash to stock and do it soon so you can complete the drive cycle.

The GTS tune is only a transmission tune?

Right, but somehow flashing the DME is a nail biting experience for me every time… if one thing goes wrong, the ECU gets bricked.

I also don't want to have to hassle with flashing and reflashing.

It has nothing to do with the DME. You update the DKG module not the DME.

It is only a soft brick and is recoverable if that happens. With a tuner cable, this does not happen, and you should have a backup of your stock tune to restore to anyways.
