Somebody with a trailer hitch parallel-parked a nasty hole in my front bumper. With my high deductible, I didn't want to claim the damage and got three estimates to repaint the entire bumper: $1590, $1250, and $435. The $435 shop had 5-star reviews and took the car immediately. I asked the owner/tech, while he was at it, to fill the reflector-insert holes. No problem: an extra $90. Result: perfect paint match, no orange peel, no more pinhole damage or under-lip scratches, and euro look with no inserts. Moral: beware the shop with Porsches out front.

A business that does that good work at a reasonable cost, should be named to show appreciation from us forum members.

Dayz Auto Body Repair Shop in Richmond, VA. Owned/operated by Miguel and Johanna. Super nice people. Johanna gave me a ride home when I left the car off. They finished a day and a half early. HIGHLY recommended.

Hit 150k miles!

It's been an amazing experience so far. 2010 E92 DCT, second owner, I purchased at 44k miles back in March 2015. Put a LOT of miles on it over the past 3.5 years. It's my daily as well as track car. I’ve asked a lot of the car and it has almost always risen to the occasion. As much as I drive this car, it still puts a big goofy smile on my face pretty much every time I rev it all the way out…which is at least once on the way to and from work (the RPI xpipe and muffler contribute to a major part of that). It’s been the perfect balance of performance, practicality, and luxury. Here’s hoping for another awesome 150k!

Here’s a basic rundown:

Commute 80 miles/day for work
12 track days so far
Still on original rod bearings (beginning to think about getting them changed)
BMW twin power turbo 10w60 oil changed every 8 - 9k miles
Blackstone analysis every time, never had more than 10ppm lead (running avg = 7)
Throttle actuators finally went out at 133k
Starter died at 130k (most PITA experience so far)
Had leaky spark plug tube at 127k (replaced all tubes and valve cover gasket)
Small transmission pan leak at 113k (replaced pan + filter)
Survived a run-in with an 18 wheeler retread (replaced front bumper, hood, headlight, and oil cooler)

Came back from my trip, 1500 miles with the M.
I'm glad I took it for a road trip, it was a blast to drive.
