I successfully drove 2 years in a Porsche without a front plate. I hope to stay lucky. If I get pulled over, I am going to be honest.
I just avoid the smaller municipalities/towns that have LEOs who enjoy issuing tickets for anything and everything. I do not purchase goods from their area, reducing their tax revenues. If I have to be concerned every moment if I am legal, I will take my money elsewhere. I have a few areas I refuse to shop. I believe police are supposed "to protect and to serve"....not annoy me to death. I got a ticket this month for expired plates just 2 miles from the dealer where I was dropping off my leased car and picking up my ///M. Tried to show him the paperwork proving I was turning in my lease. He did not care. He issued a ticket anyway. Ended up costing me $12 (originally $87) once I proved I really did turn in the car that day. |

I think you would have to claim that in court, I have no idea how you prove it, I just know that's how my friend gets away with it on his corvettes (two are classic and one is new but they all supposedly fall under this provision)
