WingZeroX5's Maintenance Log
*Updated 11/22/18*
I've finally reached 150k and been planning for this milestone for a few months. Not much was done until at the 100K interval, where I replaced most of the suspension and major engine components. These past few years, I drove A LOT. I went to the south twice for training and vacationing in Florida twice as well. Weekly back and forth from NY, commuting in NY-NJ…this car gets driven. Since purchasing the car with 60k miles, OCI's were done every 7,500 miles, at least. Pictures below may not necessarily correlate with the OCIs. FAQ's 1. Original rod bearings? Yes 2. Original actuators? Yes 60,000 Purchased vehicle. 150,000
A buddy of mine was free, so that cut down the time drastically as he worked on the engine and I did the suspension components -Replicated 100,000 maintenance schedule -New tires, Michelin AS3+ 245/265. Went down to stock in the rears -Upgraded I-Level software, done two weeks prior. -I do have a minor valve cover gasket leak, I'll have to address it at some point Here's a video of the engine cold start after all was done 165k - 1 July 18 I did the brakes at 160k for safety reasons but I'll stick this under the 165k category. I used Bendix rotors and ceramics from Rock Auto. See here: $42 Rotors on RockAuto? https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1468984 I don't have the oil report yet from Blackstone but here's a vid of the engine sound Have to clean the engine bay next week too. Engine cleaned: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1517308 170,000 Things got a little interesting here, as documented in this thread I addressed the DCT leak and almost 2k miles later, it's still dry. As you can see in the pics, based on what I said in the thread referenced, the DCT filter is genuine OEM, made by getrag. It's a whole kit that can be purchased. So the reason for it not seating properly, is unknown. Could be error on my end, or could be a bad dct filter cap. Nonetheless, just check next time. To save a hefty amount of cash, Rock Auto sells the gasket by itself, and a filter. Though I normally go with FCPEuro, the price for a new DCT pan and the suction pump thing was not worth it in the long run, especially if it's just the gasket that needs to be replaced. 172,500 Replaced: -Spark Plugs -Dinan engine air filter -AC belt -Drive belt -Coolant vent hose (it broke) -Upper radiator hose (broke too) -Water pump (might as well if I'm dumping coolant) -Coolant -Diff fluid -Cabin filters -Oil changed Broke one of my coils in the rear, so I moved it up front and will be swapping them all out at 200k, just in time for the next spark plug change. If my valve cover gasket can last that long, I'll be changing those too as well. All done! 173,500 Replaced original alternator. New one is from Valeo, purchased from Rock Auto. Didn't see the price justification in going with FCP this time, especially if the original lasted this long. But I've been getting weird electrical issues once in a while, and had been occurring about 2x a week. ISTA showed over voltage at two ECU's. Voltage diagnostic at the terminals in the engine bay shows voltage dropping to low 12's, then spiking to 15V. This smoked my USB drive and had to re-download all of my songs lol 178,000 Returned from vacation, added about 4k miles from road trip. Didn't need to top off oil, strange. Also, I've never had issues with the motor being noisier, especially those who use lubri moly. BMW ICOM NEXT A Quote:

If everyone wants to see the bearings, I could setup a fund and y'all can chip in for the cost to change them out |

If you did all that other work yourself, you can handle bearings. It's $500 to $1000 in parts depending on what bearings and what bolts you buy plus a long day of your time.
