An hour to build them or install? Install is easy. I was referring to the rebuild. Many had tried and failed.

Oh sorry, I meant to install. Rebuilding is a waste of time from what I've read. One of mine actually failed a few thousand miles after being replaced by the dealer. The gears showed absolutely no wear and the circuit board looked fine too .

Thanks for the link Iyzmi. I've been fooling around with the settings myself, but I'm glad to try out some settings others have had success with. Hadn't seen that thread yet.

Rob,

I'd be curious how you find the DCT in everyday use -- slow parking lot maneuvering, trying to back up uphill into a parking space, etc, etc. That was our (wife and I) biggest issue with a DCT car. All out on track, it is really sweet, especially the way shifts are managed while loaded with side g loads. However, after experiencing around town, daily use type stuff, my wife said no way - give her a 6MT.

I think there are Euro/GTS DCT tunes that might help some of those issues; however, it's been ~6 years since my experience, so perhaps some has changed since then. I'm far from an expert on the DCT tunes , but this board is chock full of information on the DCT. At least the gearing is perfect on the E9x DCT imo; on the F8x M3/M4, they just used the DCT from the F10 M5, and the overall all gearing 1st is way too short which is the last thing that torque monster S55 needs.

The car looks beautiful btw! I have a SSII slicktop sedan, and it's always nice to see the coupe in SSII, especially with ZCP.

Regards,
Chuck

if we ever coincide at a track day I'll go the GTS software free

The GTS software does many things, among which it minimizes the lag between moving from D to R.

After putting a few hundred miles on the car I'm really liking the DCT for both driving around town in normal traffic and on the back roads. So far I'm mostly liking the shifting set on 5, but have been trying all the different settings and even tried the auto mode. Most likely I'll almost always just use it in manual mode, but maybe use automatic mode if I get caught in a traffic jam.

The only thing that I have found more difficult with the DCT is trying to creep the car forward really slow. Where I park the car in my garage I need to get really close to the wall in the front of the car. I have a 1" thick rubber mat set on the floor that I can feel the front tire nudge if I'm just edging forward going really slow. When the front wheel touches the mat that leaves about 2-3" of space to the wall. I'm getting better at doing it, but at 1st creeping forward was almost impossible. Once the car completely stops, getting it to slowly move forward another couple inches isn't easy. It wants to move more then a couple inches once it engages. Now I have got the hang of making sure I have enough momentum to not have to stop before nudging the mat. It's also probably just getting used to a new to me car in not knowing exactly where the front is. Creeping a car forward with a manual is very easy in comparison.

I'm currently on a waiting list for a Macht Schnell x-pipe at EAS. They should have more in in a couple weeks. Once that is in and I install it my plan is to get the stage 2 tune from Alex at Alpine. I'll be adding the GTS DCT flash and Euro MDM. I'm curious to see what the differences in the DCT will feel like.

I'm really liking the Silverstone color on the car. I was originally looking for a white M3 as it was the color of original show car I feel in love back when the E92 M3 was released. I also wanted the white as I';m just tired of dealing with black and dark colored paints. When I saw the Silverstone car I bought I thought it looked even better than white and should be easy to keep clean too.

I'm definitely going to change to black wheels though. The Silver zcp wheels get dirty looking really quick. I like the look of black wheels on light color cars too. I'm debating on buying black wheels and selling the zcp wheels, or just getting the zcp wheels powder coated satin black. It's a tough decision. There is a used set of 18" Volk VR.G2 wheels for sale right now that I think would look great, I'm just not sure which option I want to go with yet. Going with the Volk option will cost more, but I'm not sure if I will like it that much more than the zcp in black. The Volk's would most likely be the better option for the track too though.

I can comment on Euro MDM having a stock euro car.

Turn the DSC off and enjoy your car.

Try D1 for creeping forward. It starts in 2nd gear and has an auto roll built in (after light throttle input) for creeping in traffic. Not sure if it will be better or worse for your garage situation but you could play around with it on the street first to see how it works. I think D1 is the only mode with the roll feature but I could be wrong.

This.

I never drove in D1, 2, or 3 until I had the GTS tune, now D2 is my warm-up setting, and it's nothing like it was pre-tune. OP will also notice better slow-speed rolling with that tune.

HEY ! You bought my old car !

Congrats ... I was actually online looking for another M3 today ... I sold this in March preparing for a move from Atlanta to San Francisco ($$$$$ out here, sold 2 cars).

Really hated to sell it.

Couple things I did to the car you may notice:
- Added the euro seat knee bolsters
- Added leather center console (from extended leather pack)
- Added the front splitters (genuine)
- Added the rear CF spoiler (genuine)
- Added the Genuine euro front bumper (I won't even tell you how much money)

Anyways -- I bought the car when it had 15K miles on it, drove it less than 10K in 2 years, it was my "keep forever car" but things changed. Congrats -- !!!

And I'm picking up your old/new floor mats tomorrow. Your M3 will be living on for a long time. Thanks Ben.

As in OEM for euro version? I’d like know where I’d get one. This is the one without the yellow reflectors right?

Love the Z! I was a longtime member of the National Z Club, I had a 1990 300ZX Turbo that I ADORED.

Now I have a 2013 E93 Silverstone, so welcome to the Silverstone DCT club. Enjoy, the car is a blast to drive....wishing you many happy miles.

Congratulations, on your new M3. I just bought a similarly optioned E93 M3 in July. It's my first BMW and I look forward to my commute everyday. I'm sure you'll love it.
