We tried different oil too. No luck unfortunately.
Sounds like mine. Did yours start after a Liqui-Moly oil change?

Wow that is loud ticking. I use LM and no issues at all pre rod bearing and post rod bearings.

I noticed today that noise is 90% gone after 800 miles on the current oil (LM 10W60).

Couple days ago I removed the accessory belt to see if something there was making noise. Well, no ticking noise after starting up without the acc belt. Great. Put everything back together and....still no noise. Drove for two days with no noise at all, then today the noise came back but is a lot more infrequent and quieter. This is all very strange, i didnt change anything.

So I have experienced this noise for over 150,000 miles and your motor is fine. I was thinking it was a failed hydraulic lifter but I came across something the other day. So I have to replace my oil filter housing gasket because there is a small leak. I removed all my belts, pulleys, water pump, thermostat, power steering pump and oil filter housing. Well when I removed my power steering pump the bolts were very loose in comparison to others and it's torque spec. I wonder if the mounting to the block is wiggling slightly and this is the cause of our noise(tick)? I only would hear this noise at idle and throttle makes it go away as the engine becomes smoother. I should receive all my parts in 3 days and I will be re assembling everything and following torque specs. I would always get this noise for the first 1000 miles of new OEM oil and it would seem to subside after. Since I have to re add new oil and torque down all pulleys and mounting hardware I will have an answer that might be of help to us all. I'll let ya know.

Tracking says I will have my parts Tuesday. I think I'll have the time to get things buttoned up by Friday or Saturday. I'll report after some miles in hot weather.

So I have the car back together and I went for a 20 mile drive. No noise present but I really didn't expect it because it wasn't hot out at the time. I usually get the tick with hotter weather. So far no tick at all. I change my oil every 5k so I'll try and report in after that.

Check all mounting points but don't over torque, it's aluminum. Day 2 and no tick again.

Are you referring to the power steering pulley bolts or the bolts mounting the power steering pump to the engine? I pulled the acc belt again and drove the car around (without PS obviously). The noise was completely eliminated. Also I noticed the car did not shake as much at idle. So this means its either a pulley, the ac compressor or the power steering pump. I also replaced the acc belt while I was in there but no change.

It was ac for mine. There is a mount that has two fixing points on block like a triangular leg. Both bolts were loose. They are torx not hex bolts. I should have taken a picture! I haven't had that tick since doing this. I was waiting for full on SoCal summer heat to report officially as heat kinda brought the noise out for my car.

This is very interesting, I will have to give this a try. What did you torque those bolts to? When i use a long head screwdriver I can hear this noise from the ac compressor, but looks like it may just be the bolts holding it. I bought an ac compressor but may not need to swap it!

OP - I also have this exact sound right after an oil change. It goes away after a while but comes back right after the next change. Also using LM 10w60

Curious to see what pans out here -

So these torx are really close to the subframe at the front. I bought a 2nd torx socket set and cut the torx bit off the socket plug. Then I used a small 1/4" wrench to hold the torx bit so I could tighten. I estimated and shot for 20lbs. Put a piece of tape on before inserting it. Pics attached. Cut that bit as short as possible but leave something for the wrench to grab, you'll know what I mean when you look at the two pictures. My two bolts were just beyond finger tightening in my case when I found them doing other work.

I have the car apart now, I cant seem to find the torx bolts you are talking about. Maybe you can reference them here with this link? Thanks

It only happens at idle. It sounds like a knocking noise but it is not the rod bearings (made this noise before and after I replaced them with ACL rod bearings)
