It was a PIA to do, since you have to remove much of the interior to get to two bolts near the rear pillar.
bubbles, bumping an old thread. You listed the website, but which fabric matches the anthracite e92 m3 slick top with the diamond weave?

Thanks.

Does anyone know the part # for the headliner (without sunroof, CF roof) and where it can be purchased (not through a dealer preferably).

Thanks!

There is a possibility this is the right part. Check realoem. The catch is most places want between 200 and 300 for shipping charges.

Does the new liner linked above include the foam backing? It's the stuff that's still stuck to your headliner in the above pic. I can't tell by their website description but there should be a foam backing on the liner.

Man, that's going to royally suck to wire brush all that old foam off of there down to the bare board. You won't get anything to stick to the degraded yellow foam otherwise.

How much material did you order to cover the headliner? Thanks!

Hope it turns out good for you!

New fabric comes with the foam backing, get a wire brush drill attachment and you’ll make quick work of the old foam but the stuff gets everywhere so lay a tarp on the floor to minimize the clean up. I ordered enough fabric to redo the headliner twice just in case I screwed it up. Air compressor and spray gun will be needed to spray the adhesive. If I were to do it over again, I’d strip it and have a shop lay it down the fabric with the appropriate adhesive. This is the correct adhesive, not the stuff in the weldwood spray can stuff. I used a harbor freight spray gun that worked well with the weldwood contact adhesive and it worked great.

I can’t find my old invoice but there should be some info in a post on yardage (I think I ordered 7-8 yards) The key is to take into account the dips and bends in the headliner. The extra yardage cost wasn’t significant from what I remember.

That's great information. Thanks again!.
I've about had it with the headliner hanging on my head when I drive around.

When you took this out? did you have to remove the front windshield? A shop I spoke with earlier stated they would need to do this in order for the liner to come out.

dropping the headliner off the car, windshield is not needed to be removed!! Just remove all the surrounding parts and sunshade visor.

No, it slide out the driver’s door. The seats need to be flat and low and the gearshift forward. Newstis has full instructions.

My E92 M3 also has this pretty bad, can headliners be bought and swapped in single or a few pieces or is reupholstering the only option?

I got mine replaced by a shop for $225, and it's like new. I imagine any interior shop can and will handle this, I believe it's just a standard BMW 3-Series headliner material anyways.

I was going to tackle it myself, but I figure I would spent that amount in materials, tools, time, etc. on a job that I probably couldn't do any better than the guy doing it for 30+ years. I would recommend to search around your area and get a couple quotes together unless you really want to DIY.

It's one piece, I saw a couple listed on eBay when I was looking back in May. Shipping is a buzzkill though, looking around $200 minimum.

You can also just buy the fabric, foam, and glue for much less.

This. I just bought a '12 E92 with the sagging headliner... But there is a local guy here that does headliner work only and is booked solid with euro car work. Charges $245 and work comes out basically OEM. I have an appointment two weeks from today to get it done. A lot of people I know with same era cars have had them done. I'm in PR so weather is an issue (hot and humid)

It was a PIA to do, since you have to remove much of the interior to get to two bolts near the rear pillar.

How many yards should I get? I called them and they said 35 a yard and they are 55" wide. I'm not doing the pillars, just the headliner. And would the BM2008 one work for black interior? I think I have the diamond weave as well
