Pitiful. I once logged 500 MPG coasting down the Pali 11 miles to my office (Pauahi Tower) on Bishop.

That's not the best place to look for determining your MPG, especially if you recently hit the reset switch - which it appears you did.
That screen is saying is that over the last 11 miles of travel since you hit the reset switch, you had an average speed of 50.8 MPH and, over that 11 miles, you averaged 24.5 MPG . You need to go a lot further than 11 miles to calculate MPG Go to the top of a hill, hit the reset switch, coast down the hill and watch your screen readouts. You'll be getting some fabulous MPG numbers - until you hit bottom and start to climb. The way to get a true MPG readout from that screen is to hit the reset after you fill up. When you empty the tank, then look at the numbers. An even better way is to depress the switch on the turn signal repeatedly until the MPG reads out on the dash. That's telling you your average MPG calculated over a very long time and distance. |

Long Distance Run (by HI standards)
Since the last post was not a long enough commute for some, here is a update for a longer journey.
July 20, with 11,200 miles. Haleiwa (Oahu's North Shore) to Kaneohe in a storm. At this speed, I was able to get good 23.2mpg. Cheers!

Add to which the trip computer are not very accurate to begin with imo. Just do it the old fashion way. Reset the trip odo on your next gas fill up. Fill up and record how many gallons. On your next fill up note the trip odo mileage. Then fill up again record the gallons. Solve for X. In this case would be 217.5 Divide 217.5/15 = 14.5MPG Continue to add rows to the table for future fill ups. This will give you an accurate mpg picture. |

I picked up the car at 0 miles and never hit the reset button. I'm now at 8k miles and my average is 26.3. It's all about feathering the throttle. I go for really hard drives but during normal driving use good mpg technique and get great mpg even with two or three high revving drives a week.
