Colour Hierarchy (Individual Edition)
Thread inspired by Color Hierarchy, by Seattle S65B40. Which is the original one with normal M3 colors and can be found here: Color Hierarchy
I pulled these colours from the Sticky Individual Colours thread in the photo gallery. Please let me know if I'm missing any. These are my rankings for an E92. But to be honest they all look great and my top 11 are almost at a tie. Pardon my spelling of color or colour in this thread. Im Canadian 1. Monte Carlo Blue 2. Hellrot 3. Azurite Black 4. Black Sapphire Metallic 5. Midnight Blue 6. Carbon Black 7. Laguna Seca Blue 8. Dakar Yellow 9. Imola Red 10. Fire Orange 11. Frozen Black 12. Frozen Grey 13. Technoviolet 14. Titanium Silver 15. Phoenix Yellow 16. Power Green 17. Ruby Black 18. Atlantis Metallic 19. Moonstone 20. Marrakesh Brown 21. Barbera Red These are other colours that I found could have been available for E9X M3 at various times and various places. I did not rank them because it would take forever and most of them I havent even seen or heard of before. Post with list of colours and colour codes can be found here: Individual Colours Aventurine Silver Blue Onyx Diopside Black Havanna Mineral Silver Sedona Red Stratus Grey Deep Sea Blue Aegean Blue Avus Blue Chiaretto Red Brass Michigan Blue Mora Mystic Blue Olivin Orient Blue Oxford Green Petrol Mica Ruby Red Santorini Blue Sterling Grey Sydney Blue Toledo Blue Velvet Blue Last edited by MK599; 03-30-2011 at 04:08 PM.. |

I posted a link in the other thread of an Indianapolis E92. Though, in reading that old thread again, some think it is actually Barbera (I don't).

Nice. Now this is a lot of colors to rank, but here's my ranking...
Azurite Black Carbon Black Midnight Blue Moonstone Ruby Black Laguna Seca Blue Dakar Yellow Monte Carlo Blue Fire Orange Hellrot Frozen Black Frozen Grey Technoviolet Phoenix Yellow Imola Red Power Green Atlantis Metallic Marrakesh Brown Barbera Red Black Sapphire Metallic Titanium Silver I'm a little biased towards the bluish blacks because I loved Carbon Black so much on my E46. It's really hard to assess so many different colors but thanks for putting this thread together. Now let's see some more Individual pics!!

Sorry, mkoesel, I just saw your response.
Initially I thought you were referring to THIS car, which the owner himself acknowledges as being a Barbera Red. That is the car that I was referring to when I said "it is barbera red." After doing a little more research though, I realized you were referring to the car in THIS thread (or at least I hope so). As to this car, I can't definitively say whether it is or is not barbera red. My guess is that it is. Here's a picture comparison of the two cars: First Car - Known to be Barbara Red Second Car- NOT Known whether Barbera Red or Indianapolis Red REFERENCE CAR - This Car is known to be Indianapolis Red. Given that the second pic shares the same shades of purple and fuschia that are also found in the first pic (Barbara Red), and given that those shades aren't found in the third picture (Indianapolis Red)... I think the car is much more likely to be Barbera Red than it is Indianapolis Red. While I don't think anyone (with the exception of the owner) can definitively rule IN Barbera Red for a fact. I'm confident in ruling out Indianapolis Red. - esquire

I agree with your analysis of the color. Studying it more now I am more convinced it is indeed Barbera than I originally had been. Still, it would be nice to know for sure. This topic has spilled into a separate thread now, BTW. I think someone is considering trying to order Indianapolis, and wants to see it on an M3. Either way, not sure if BMW will allow it or not. Its sound like "no" according to folks who seem to be in the know. If so, that's too bad as I like the color more than Barbera. |

Definitely that's Barbera Red. I'm looking at pics I took of an Indianapolis Red E92 M3 I saw at a local Cars and Coffee Meet a few weeks ago on my iPhone and it looks way different compared to the Barbera Red. I'm sure I'm in the minority here but of all the reds I still like Melbourne the best... not sure why, but that color really appeals to me.
