Hey guys,

So I just ordered a set of Recaro sportster CS wrapped in black leather for my M3. I know I have the heated option but would need an extra wiring harness to have heat. Other than that I'm pretty new to the seat game.

I know the Recaro sportster CS has built in side mounts so I would only be needing floor mounts for the seats.

I already went and purchased the Recaro sliders with the seats but wanted to know what floor mount would be the best in everyone's opinion/ the lowest. I know the e92 m3 seats sit veryyyy high and was wondering if I should select the:

-Planted mounts
Or
-Macht Schnell Light weight mounts

I was leaning towards the macht Schnell mounts but wanted to see if anyone had any feedback before I went ahead and purchased them.

Also if I'm keeping the stock seat belt I believe I don't need a seatbelt receptacle. Is that correct?

Thanks guys, any feedback is good feedback!!!!!!!

My advice would be to buy both sets of mounts and try each for a week. You can always just sell the ones you don't like and recoup most of the cost.

I have Wedge mounts. Not pretty but they get the job done and the seats are centered on the wheel. I believe the matrix-style floor mounts (MS, VAC) cause the steering to be slightly off center.

I love the way the VAC mounts look, though. They are beautiful.

How tall are you? the macht schnell mounts floor you, it dropped me like 5 inches, I am 6'1 and I feel like I am sitting too low, hard to look out the rear window to reverse and I lost some of the forward vision that a tall guy has.

Thanks Gabe, I'm around 5'10-5'11, I was originally directed to the planted mounts but thought I would like the MS mounts more. MS mounts are coming in so I guess I will see the results. If I decide to switch to planted I could always sell the MS mounts and make the change. Question tho, how do you mount the seat belt receptacle to the planted mounts?

We've done a number of installs using the Macht Schnell mounts on the Sportster CSs, no problem for taller drivers - even with helmets, but not too low in which it feels weird.

Let me know if you want me to set up everything you need, all parts are in stock.

I believe the newer MS floor mounts have an adaptor that screws into the side of the floor mount and you attach the seat belt receptacle to that.
Mine are the old ones and I haven't figured it out yet, so my air bag/seatbelt warning light is on, I have an E93 however so I am using a Scroth Rally harness, so the lap belt is bolted into the side bolt of the seats. so functionally it works fine. I just gotta figure out a bracket to attach the receptacle to.

Honestly the best way is to go with MS floor mounts. It's pricey but really the only best solution.

The best way is NOT MS floor mounts. There may be worse ways, but that certainly is not a good one. Losing one leg is 'better' than losing both, but either situation is best avoided if possible.

In my signature you have my install thread of the MS hardware.

OP, having gone through what you're about to go through, please just return the Recaro sliders and get the Brey Krause setup.

Brey Krause reuses the OEM slider instead of the crappy MS+Recaro combo, it's **way** more solid, it's actually designed to hold the 3 point seat belt unlike the MS+Recaro combo.

After spending 1k on the MS side, floor and seat belt mounts plus the Recaro sliders, I have all that garbage sitting in my storage depot and am running the BK hardware instead. It's clearly different

Go ahead, click on my install thread...

Good info, but I don't believe the BK stuff will work with Sportsters. The Sportsters do not use vertical mounts that you use of racing buckets.

What part was bad for you? in my case I had the older MS floor mounts and the holes didn't line up with the floor mounting points so I ended up running one of the floor mounts flipped back wards because luckily the holes lines up when I did that lol.!

They advertise hybrid mounts that work with the 3 points but that is not the case, and my thread has photo evidence

I had to do a lot of ghetto modding to get the system to work, which is crazy because it's really expensive hardware sold as 'built for the E9X'

I have and did not have a good experience with them. Not sure if they sent me the wrong hardware or what not but the mounts did not seem to fit correctly in the car with carpeting.

It seems like the seat mounting hardware world is composed of multiple clowns and then you have BK, which builds things that actually work.

The bullsh1t I had to stand with MS is just shameful.

I used the wedge engineering mounts and had no complaints with my sportsters!

Sorry to hijack this thread. Does anyone know if you need to code out the seatbelt arm extenders with the Sportsters? Or can they still be functional?

Bumping this thread for more info:

So what mounts work best with Sportsters? Right now they have E46 brackets and the original Recaro sliders. Is it confirmed that the Brey Krauss mounts don't work with these seats? What options would I have then?
