11 E92 SG M3 Fresh tint & Break In Details

Today was a big day for the M3. Got my break-in service completed and took it right over to have the windows tinted. Let the MODDIN BEGIN!
Tint is 8% rear and 15% front. Crappy pics but you get the idea (left my Canon at home, so these are iPhone pics)
Today was the first time I've revved the engine above 5,500 RPM and HAWWWWWLLLLY CHIIIIIIIIIT I was SOOOOOOOOOOOO effin impressed with the ridiculous power this thing puts down STOCK Can only imagine how the SC must feel on this beast.

Initially my SA told me that ONLY the engine oil needed to be changed. But after sending over the PDF (thanks to Rolf-Dieter http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=628608) I was able to convince my SA to look further into it. That being said, the tech that ending up working on my car ( same tech that regularly serviced my 335) is a friend of a friend and is extremely competent. So in this case I think it's more of an education for the SA. I do not think my Tech would have missed the gearbox.

Below is the e-mail I received after my visit. I received my paperwork via e-mail because their printer was down.

"Thanks for your visit today!

See attached PDF for you scanned copy of the invoice (that finally came off
the printer, haha!)

You will notice there is Gearbox oil attached to the Run-in service.

I spoke with TECH NAME, and he explained that as your car's tranmission is the
dual clutch system, BMW does not require to have the Oil in the differential
replaced. If you had a 6-speed manual, then yes, it would have been done.

Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Kind regards,
SA"

Tint looks great! I think you just convinced me to go darker than I originally thought. And thanks to you and Rolf for the links concerning the 1200-mile service! Cheers ~

I made many a drives (Edmonton to Vancouver and back) via Jasper or Calgary & Banff ... yes some of the nicest roads I've driven on they will always be in my memory. I lived many happy years in Alberta

My last drive across the country was further down south along route 66 all the way to California in my then Z4 35i ... I'm back in my ///M3 what else

BTW last time I was in Calgary down town in my original 2002 M3 I paid over $20- flat rate parking for a few hours are parking rates still that high?

Re: Speeding ticket I be it was on the BC side the RCMP have it in for Alberta drivers I always found got a few of them speeding tickets myself last one was near Hope, BC a helicopter picked me up the I was stopped at a RCMP control spot.

Ever since then I go 10% above posted speed limit ... naturally when the fellows have there coffee and donut time I go a bit faster, go with the flow so to speak and overtake like a speedy consoles

Happy Motoring, now that you can rev her up to the top RPM band

My pleasure the PDF file is very handy for the first and future inspections along of course with the service manual that came with your car.

It is good to be able to place the file in front of your SA, I printed the entire file out put it in a 1" 3-ring binder and have it in the car when she goes in for service (I highlight pertinent points in yellow).

The PDF file actually is very clear as to what is required for a M-DCT and a 6MT. So no misunderstanding should exist, nice to have it in black and white
