Black GTS/ZCP wheels on a Jerez Black M3?
Thoughts? Will it look weird since sometimes jerez has blue/purple hues?
I have the standard 19" ZCP wheels but was thinking about swapping them with black ones Looks awesome in this video but I can't tell if that car is jerez or jet black Last edited by gymtime; 03-30-2014 at 07:35 PM.. |

It looks Jet Black to me but in the shadows it's hard to know for sure. I too have considered black on black but IMO it's been done to death. The black ZCP's do look great but I think there needs to be some contrast. The only black wheel I would do with my jet black M3 would be something like a BBS LM or a Work Brombacher with a black center and polished lips. My .02

Jerez looks totally black most of the time. Here's mine. Black or silver wheels would work, it's all personal preference. I like a little contrast, even opt'd to keep the stock chrome grill for definition up front...I'm just not into the more aggressive murdered look. Try it to see how it sits with you, that's the only way you'll know for sure...been there many times.

Black ZCP Track Wheels on my Jerez Black M3 - sorry pic is poor.
I hate all of the brake dust from the track on my silver ZCP wheels. I don't think this looks too bad but I get wtf stares around town when I'm too lazy to take my track wheels off.

Some pics of my car for you. And it is Jerez Black. Personally, I feel the combo is brilliant.

I prefer the brilliant shine of the stock ZCP rim on my jzb. I think dark cars need all the contrast they can get to help define lines and features so I think you should just deal with washing the wheels more frequently.

Jerez black looks purple up close. I flew up to SF to look at 2 cars and found this out and was disappointing. To each their own.

It's def not purple at all. at the most a deep dark blue'ish... but never purple, must have been reflection or lighting in the area.

No doubt the stock ZCP look great but I feel the black ones make the car look twice as aggressive. Looks a lot more passive with the stock wheels in my opinion. It would also save me hours of work from always having to clean em too.

Actually the satin black GTS wheels require frequent cleaning as well. Dust and stuff show up pretty obviously against the dark surface. Just so you know.

Silver is cleaner and understated by virtue of being the normal oem finish that is much more common on cars. I think the car loses a lot of definition when the wheels go black, seeing as wheels are such a strong focal point on a car from a design perspective. Pick one you like and wash it as frequently as you'd wash the one you did not pick. Nothing worse than a dirty M3. |
