What % of DCT have the lag?

I am looking at getting an m3 and need the DCT due to significant other not knowing how to drive manual. Have a friend who is going to a bmw dealer auction, but scared sh*tless that I'll end up with a DCT with crazy lag. Is there anything I can do besides prey if I can't test drive it before buying it?

So you are going to buy a car you have not test driven? I suggest you do first.

With the latest software I got the lag has been almost eliminated. But from what I understand the latest software is only provided if fault codes are found - there is no service bulletin yet. Having had an early 2008 DCT, then a 2009 DCT and now the new software it almost makes you look forward to the next "upgrade"

- they all behaved differently.

I have a 2009 Sedan (a May 09 build) and I can't say I've run into the lag yet. I have 800 miles on the car now a month after delivery.

Praying won't help...but a simple DCT software update will.

A few that have gotten ISTA/P Version 2.34.005 are reporting no lag now. I am taking mine in for this soon.....hopefully they have figured it all out!

Can you do me a favor and update this thread once you get the update applied and let me know if it is fixed. I believe the dealer auction is this Thursday and I need another car bad.

Yeah, but mine wont go in for a couple weeks.

Check the other threads on the DCT lag issue as others are posting there. Some have gotten the most recent ISTA/P version and others are in process. They are posting on other threads, so just look around.

After my car came from service for the bulletin 13-05-08 I have almost no Lag I've been driving for 4 days now.
