hi all, the 19's are too expsive to run as I track my car. I'm thinking about swapping for OEM 18's since there are more, good, inexpensive 18' choices. However I really prefer the 19" OEM look!

The PS2's run around $2k for a set of tires. Seems there are nice choices for around $1100 in 18".

Any opinions?

If the idea is to track with 18" but keep the 19" for just city/highway driving then the General UHP 19" tires are a great choice, IMO. The are not as sticky as the PS2 but they do stick and handle above average for a high performance summer tire (I don't think that it is a proper Ultra high performance as its name implies), almost inmune to hydroplaning, quiet, and they last 20,000+ miles without any effort.

And they are cheap.

I'll be doing the same... a set of OEM 18" for the track -with RE-11 tires- and the 19" with my current UHP tires.

Umm...I hate to sound like a broken record here, but the Vredestein Ultrac Sesantas are the best low priced high-performance tires on the market. Period.



If the OP wants a more reasonably price version of the PS2's, then all he has to do is buy a set of Vredesteins. (and his problem is solved)

For those who have no idea of what Vredestein tires offer...

Excellent dry grip (virtually equal to PS2's)
Excellent wet grip (better than PS2's)
Excellent turn in performance (stiffer sidewalls than PS2's)
Excellent Tread wear rating (last longer than PS2's)
Better value for the money (cost about half as much as PS2's)

Give these tires a shot, and it's highly unlikely you will ever buy PS2's again. (not kidding)

I have been the biggest fan of these tires since I became aware of them through a distributor about three years ago. They don't advertise much, so many guys have never heard of them.

I am a Vredestien convert, who was a previous PS2 disciple. The two tires are very similar in performance, but I give the edge (all things considered) the Vreds. Can't say enough good things about these tires. They're the best.

I have the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo tires. After the $50 mail in rebate which I got in less than a month, they only cost me like $750 for 275/30 and 295/30. You can't beat that performance and price.

According to the C&D test, V12 Evo is the best tires for M3 (since the other 2 higher ranked tires are not available in M3 spec).

In another tire test, the Vredestien's were barely edged out by the Goodyear F1 Asymmetric in another high-performance tire comparison in "EVO" magazine.

Nice, good price! So how do you like them? How would you rate them vs. the PS2? I'm stocked I can keep my 19's vs. go with the 18's

Yeah, I had the UHP's on a ZHP in the past and I hated them. yes, they're soft and comfortable, etc but I made the mistake of taking them on the track. I would rate them as an all season, not a high performance tire. thanks for the help though!
