Hissing/leaking sound after car turns off
I heard a type of hissing or leaking sound twice today right after I shut off my car.
It was coming by the front wheels/engine and it was a periodic hissing sound. Almost sounded like a blow off valve from a turbo car just more mild. I've never heard this sound before. It was about 85 degrees outside. Anyone got any ideas what this could be? Could it be something that has to do with the air conditioner? I'm hoping this is normal!

Doesn't sound normal... but could have something to do with the a/c.

I've been getting the same sound lately. I sounds like a liquid hitting a hot pipe.
I thinks its just the AC but am worried it could be something else since I just recently began to happen and haven't read about other complaining about it... |

NORMAL.
There was a thread about it here just the other day (search "sizzling sound"). It's condensation from the a/c dripping on the hot exhaust manifold.

Yup... the hissing sound is fairly normal. I was comforted by my service manager and head mechanic that its not a big drama to worry about.

I don't know about this guys. My friend's cousin had a neighbor who was visiting his brother that told him about hearing that hissing sound on his new M3 right before his engine seized and threw a rod.
If I were you, I would leave your AC off just in case. |

Yep, its water from the evaporator housing draining out and hitting hot exhaust. Noticed it on my car the other day, totally normal.

I'm amazed there are still new posts about this. This has been discussed many many times before. This and the ticking noise from the clutch....

There should be nothing amazing about it.
New people show up every day, and when you experience a new symptom for the first time, you're worried. It's difficult to know what "key words" to use in a search on a forum like this, and the search function usually requires wading through a bunch of non-applicable stuff. If you find what you're looking for, you're lucky, but more often than not, you don't.
