A good friend is seriously looking into leftover deals on 2008 convertibles. The one place we went to didn't even come close to invoice. Is this reasonable in Feb 09? The MF/residual did seem quite ok.

I was offered approx. $3000 below invoice on an 08' sedan back on the 1st week of January. It had 70 miles and I probably did half of it in three test drives. So if they won't budge move on and expect to get a call in a week or so. But they usually don't get really serious with you until you show them you are ready to buy now if they meet your price. This usually entails at least doing a credit app. with them. Which makes sense since you can go to any BMW dealer and they can call up your credit approval status from the original date you applied, saving you of having to fill ount out repeatedly with all the BMW dealers you may have to visit.
By the way I live in the metropolitan Washington DC area which has probably at least 10 dealers in 30 mile radius!

If you live in california, then yes, this is typical retarded california behavior. My predicition is that the depression takes out 1/2 to 1/3 of cali dealers. Esp after the new sales tax, car tax, and gas tax are passed in a few days.
