What is this icon? Noob question.

Hello all. The car asked me to reset the time when I got in. Then the Idrive showed key charge. The yellow icon showed up when I turned off my car. Everything works normal except the comfort access didn't work in the morning. Replace the key fob battery solves the problem?

Do you know what is this?(the yellow icon) thanks in advance.

if i had to guess, its an edc warning. however, the comfort access not working is a sign of a battery taking a dump. changing the fob battery is a cheap fix if that is in fact what it is, but if it isn't- its looking like the typical battery chaos. how old is the battery?

its probably about that time...

i'm no electrical expert, but it might not be all about the voltage. amps may be a factor as well. its also starting to get colder in certain regions, which effects battery performance. i'm not saying go blow money on a battery right off the bat, but i'd consider it a major factor.

Garage List
2009 BMW e92 M3  [0.00]
It is probably the key fob battery but here is the list of all BMW dash symbols and what they mean...although now that I have looked through this rather large PDF I don't see this "key" symbol on the left of your display.

1-Drive to your BMW/Dealer and let them make a price .
2-Drive to another BMW/Dealer and let them make a price .
There is always one cheaper for the same service..

Let your EDC (shock absorbers) repair , our cars deserve it and you too...

I think it is key for battery caused it. No yellow icon and comfort access worked when I used my spare key yesterday.

Haha, for sure we deserve the best man! Talked with multiple dealers. Unfortunately they don't seem to be too clued into the electronic system without the diagnostics pointing out the direction. Have insurance coverage but haven't reached the point where I want to let them lose on the car without some kind of plan. We have to see.

I see . Let me know how it further goes..

You have no contacts in Germany ?
I'm pretty sure they would find your EDC issue in no time , and they are cheaper as well..

It's definitely an EDC error, but if you're running the original battery from 2012, you're going to want to keep your eye on that because it's common to see all kinds of weird things like this with old batteries. I would see the EDC symbol regularly on my old E70 X5 V8, along with a dozen other random errors, and replacing the battery at a dealer was the only thing that ever seemed to help.

To put things in perspective, BMW now recommends replacing the battery once per year or every 10k miles on the N63 V8 models.

Thanks for your inputs. I will pay more attention on the battery. I heard many people said that the old battery would make a lot of weir thing.
