Front tension arm bushing: Rogue vs. Dinan Monoball

Long shot here, but I've currently got the Dinan Monoball kit installed up front. I noticed a little less deflection with braking and a little more precise steering, but also noticed that sharp-edged road imperfections (e.g., expansion joints) get transmitted up into the car a touch more.

Not a big deal and would probably be content to keep the monoball kit, except that on a whim a little while ago I picked up a set of Rogue front tension arm bushings in the "street" version. They kit looks awesome, but I can't decide if it's worth swapping out the monoball for the Rogue kit.

For context, my car is primarily a street-driven car but I look to do at least 6 track days a year with a bunch of group runs mixed in for good measure.

I would love to hear feedback from anyone that used both, but would also like to hear from those who tried the Rogue kit.

Should you decide to let the Dinan pieces go, let me know and I'll pick them up off you!

The monoball should be reserved for a track only car or one that is not frequently used on the street.

The RE bushing(black) is suitable for both street and track and will provide increase performance over the OEM rubber bushing, but without the NVH of the monorail.

Bumping this thread after searching the topic extensively. Any other direct comparisons between the RE street and Dinan (or other) monoballs?
How do the RE Blacks feel on real world roads (eg expansion joints)?

My experience has been with the Bimmerworld tension strut monoball and now I'm running the Turner one. Both have been quiet and really can't tell any difference in street driving. Now the one qualifier is that I don't have a stock suspension with this change only comparison. Consequently, with solid camber plates, coil over suspension and heim-joint drop links, my suspension is a bit "clunky."

I ran the BW monoball for nearly 80,000 miles and only went to the Turner monoball after I purchased their complete M-car front suspension replacement kit. At that point I had over 110,000 street and track miles and though I have no excess noise or other problems it seemed reasonable to replace the whole front end.

If you don't run on the track or don't do much track driving, I don't think I would consider this upgrade. Good stock set up is pretty good.

Looking into these again after experiencing the notorious brake shimmy in my new-to-me ZCP. I’ll inspect mine closely soon but I’d be surprised if they’re trashed by 48K. Any more reviews of either the Rogue black/street or monoballs like Dinan/FL/BW/etc? Weekend fun car, but I don’t want any NVH or clicking or whatever.

I went with German Auto Solutions monoballs. They are amazing; extremely quality. I installed them last weekend and had a track day yesterday. On my car, they made a huge difference.

Did the increase daily driving NVH?

Also how was the install? Did you rent their tool?

I'm selling my Fall Line Monoball setup that are already pressed into the arms, I had no NVH increase and install will be a breeze. Less than 5k miles on them and only reason i took them off is because I went with SPL Arms up front.

I had zero increase in noise, harshness, or vibration. The install was a piece of cake. I rented the tool and my factory bushings pressed right out. One of the GAS monoballs did not want to go in straight so I used a file to edge the side that I was pressing in and it went smooth. The tool was awesome, worth it. I ran the car at the track on Saturday and the monoballs made a noticeable difference. I would highly recommend them. My factory bushings that came out had play and looked pretty worn (70,000 miles).

I've used the BW monoballs on two e92 M3s and they've added zero NVH. Noticeable improvement in braking and turn-in/cornering.

BW uses a sealed bearing in their design so it’s no more susceptible to dirt/salt than other parts of the OEM suspension.

Dinan is sealed as well.
Fall-Line is not. They make great stuff but that’s the only reason I wouldn’t go with the FL FTAB personally.

Turner offers monoballs now as well pressed into the arms. Curious to know if they are as good as dinan, bw.

Turner also sells their sealed monoballs for $300, I think the same price as BW. Currently these 2 offer the best value, IMO. Fall-Line is not sealed, and Dinan is priced as Dinan parts are. Rogue, Syncro Design Works, etc. are also attractive options.

I wish more of these companies provided details on the bearings used. As is, I have no way of comparing Turner and BW.

Fall Line uses Aurora. I know you don't see them as a viable option but even when I pulled mine out, they don't have much dirt or buildup from mine since they are really covered up from all the plastic down there. It's no exposed like a sway bar end link or anything like that...

I mean all of my SPL Arms are fully exposed with no seals or boots and I have no issues or noises.

Same experience here with the BW parts. I bought new control arms at the same time and they pressed them in for free for me making my install a breeze.

Not even the slightest bit of noise up front even with camber plates and ohlins.

it seems quite odd to me that most people didn't report much added nvh with monoballs, i installed the turner version and the nvh increase is quite noticeable, other than perfect roads it clunks everywhere else, and it also feels around 10-15% stiffer on top of my kw clubsport. there is also a slight squeak but not very noticeable most of the times

i would say it's borderline unbearable for me on the street, did i have a bad unit or a bad install? or just my tolerance to nvh is lower?

Just a hunch, did you tighten the arms with the car down on its own weight? From what I've read, not doing this will preload the bushing once it's set down.

That's good to know because mine slams over expansion joints and all the road imperfections. Anymore info on this?
