My dynos were garbage.....only pulled 334whp and about 370wtq with the V2. I didn't get a baseline so who knows what that means. I also haven't dynoed since V3 but I'm assuming it would be good for 20whp max. Either way, my dynos were useless. If I really was only putting 334whp on the road I wouldn't be able to beat some of the cars I have beaten.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139622 It seems to indicate 345 whp with stock intake, but things really take a dive after 6700 rpm. M3s on the forum are getting peak whp numbers of around 360-370. But the V3 builds power earlier. The DCT M3 will weigh about 100lbs more than your car. It would be a traction/driver's race I'd say...

Hey jbttum3,
I was the passenger in the M3 you raced last Sunday. I was trying to remember if you had a passenger or if it was just you and what we were rolling at when we took off? You clearly had more pull than us but I wish we had an opportunity to do a couple more runs to see, felt you might have got a bit of a jump on the driver in the car I was in. I would have also like to see what the M would have done on the run from a standstill since our car had traction control on which really hampers the launch. I bet a good .5-1 sec worse off the line to 60 when the car is doing everything it can to elimiate wheel spin. I should be getting my car anyday now so after a good break in, we will meet up and run a few before I start dumping money into upgrades. Would be nice to have a few comps for everyone. John |

I completely agree with you....there is no way I should have beaten him off the line......I'm at real disadvantage from a dig bc I have to granny shift to 2nd or else I'll destroy the synchros on my tranny. And yeah, I was by myself, but considering that I weigh 250lbs...I have no sympathy I'm almost always at a disadvantage in weight when I race. And I would have loved to do more runs as well. I'll run all day, anyday, anywhere. But I know alot of people have real reservations about street racing so I didn't think Mack wanted to run anymore. I hope you break your car in quickly bc I can't wait to race you.....you seem game for it so it should be fun. If you wouldn't mind as well, Shiv just posted a new map for the V3. It would be cool if we raced one day and then maybe a week or 2 later, we could meet again with the new map uploaded. That way I could see which map works better for me. I'm out towards Ft. Worth quite a bit as well. So if you know any empty stretchs out near your territory, that would be great. Can't wait to see your car and do some spirited runs with you.

"And yeah, I was by myself, but considering that I weigh 250lbs...I have no sympathy"
Thought that was the case. I am a good 235-240 lbs so with me in the car he was at a big weight disadvantage. I certainly don't want to come off making excuses but the temp, my added weight, the DCT and traction control settings, along with Macks warranted reservations about street racing just really didn't give us a good idea of how the two cars really compared in a straight line. You got one wicked ride for sure and I will honestly be supprised if it doesn't pull better from a 30-40 rolling start up to 100-110. I think a proper lauch on the M from a dead stop would be a good race. I can't believe all the hate people throw out towards their fellow BMW owners. People really get their panties twisted argueing over this M3 vs 335 crap. I don't personally get it. No matter what, everytime someone opens their mouth it comes across like they are either jealous of the M3, or feel threaten about how good a car the 335 is. Both sides try to make an arguement to justify how they spent their money at the expense and feelings of their fellow BMW Enthusiast. I dont get that from you Jeff and thats why I would would really like to put our cars up against each other, but to be honest, after reading the post in your threads on this board and the E90 board I am just about ready to blow it off. No matter what the out come, if we share the results with the board, one group of owners will just point, laugh and claim some glorious victory over the other. You don't get this crap on a Vette/Viper/Porsche forum. A guy with a 996S gets just as much love from his fellow Porsche owners as the guy with the 997 GT2. Nobody tells the GT2 owner he should have bought a base model and taken it to Ruf or Gembella. I just don't get it. |
