What's offset should I go for if I want to get 245/40/18 all around? Any of the rims would work? (not a big fan of the A7 rims)

ET 35 is higher than i would recommend. If you're willing to run a spacer that could probably be made to work. ET22 is generally good, but 9.5" wide is a bit aggressive for a front wheel on a winter setup.

Our internet here is restricted at work, so I couldn't see the Amazon link. But I carry the MR118 and there are none that we have listed to fit. Which leads me to another point: brake clearance can be an issue, so if you're buying the VMR wheels, make sure that the seller confirms that they will clear your brakes.

Ben,

I’m looking for a set of winters to mount on factory M220 wheels.

I’m considering the following:

Pilot Alpin PA4

F: 245/35R19 or 245/40R19
R: 255/35R19 or 255/40R19

Or

Blizzak LM-32

F: 225/40R19 or 245/40R19
R: 255/40R19

I had a set of PA3’s on my 335i and really liked them, so I’m leaning towards the PA4’s. I’m also thinking the 40 series would be better from a ride/MN pot hole protection standpoint.

Do you see any issues with any of these combos? Any recommendations?

I just jumped into an E90 M3 from an E92 335i. I still have my old rims with brand new continental DWS tires from the 335i. Here are the specs:

Miro 111
F: 19x8.5 ET35 235/35
R: 19x9.5 ET33 265/30

Will this work with my E90 M3 for my winter setup?

Thanks for the updates Ben. I do have a specific fitment question which wasn't included in your update. I’m looking to mount winters on factory M220 wheels, ideally, Pilot Alpin PA4 in

F: 245/40R19
R: 255/40R19

Or in the Sottozero Series II

F: 235/40R19
R: 255/40R19

Any issues with wither size combo?

Trying to go a little narrower and have a little extra sidewall height for winter. Living in MN, snow tires spend 6 months a year on my car, so I want to keep the factory wheels on.

Extra height in the front will generally cause rubbing. If you want a taller tire, the right way to do it is to go down to an 18".

Looking at getting a square setup with the a7s. How do I choose a tire? I have a garage so I can change tires when conditions are forecast. Located in South Korea.

If you go to build a winter package (through the 'winter' section of the site) it should offer you a chance to choose both the tire and the wheel.

Alternatively, you can shop for tires just by entering the desired size.

I should have stated the question differently -- which tire should I choose? There doesn't seem to be many comparisons from the different tire options that are currently available.

As far as shipping I have an APO to make things easier...

APO will definitely help simplify that.

If you need best ice and snow traction, go with the Blizzak WS80. If you want something sportier handling and don't need the absolute maximum traction for bad weather, then choose one of the performance winter options.

Bridgestone (LM32), Michelin (PA3/PA4), Dunlop (3D/4D), and Pirelli (Sottozero Serie II/ Sottozero 3) all have good offerings in this category. At the top of this thread I have some more detail about these, but at this point it's hard to go wrong, and a lot of it comes down to driver preference. Sometimes it comes down to what's in stock or a good price.

235/40R18 is what BMW puts on the winter package, but 245/40R18 works well too.

Am I going to have any issues running a 255/40/R18 Blizzak LM-60 square setup on the staggered OEM 219M's with a e92? Should I look into possibly going down to a 235/40/18 for the front or up to a 275/40/R18 in the rear?

I don't anticipate any serious issues. They may look just a little bit stretched on the rears. Not a lot, but as snow tires they have a narrower tread width than average for that size. 255/40R18 will fit in front. Some lowered cars or those with larger spacers may get a little bit of rub.

I am about to put my 18x8 A7's back on the car for the winter. I still love them but the offset is a bit conservative. I have a set of 12.5 and 15" spacers lying around with extended bolts from when I had my OEM ZCP summer setup. Can I use some or all of them to improve the appearance on the A7s?

An excellent winter setup. If the spacers/bolts were designed to work with the OEM ZCP wheels, they should work for the A7 with no issues.

Thanks for the quick reply Ben. I did some digging online to calculate how off the offset is relative to my summer setup (Fronts 265/35/18 on 9.5x18 +15 and Rears 285/35/18 on 10.5x18 +20).

I found an online offset calculator and ran some numbers. The A7s are +20 offset right?

If I read it right, the A7's are 24mm inset in the front and 32mm inset in the rear relative to my fairly aggressive (but not rubbing on stock ZCP suspension) summer setup.

So putting my 12.5mm spacer in front reduces it to 11.5 inset. In the rear, my 15mm spacer reduces it to 16mm inset. So not matching my summer setup but better than before??

Yes, the A7 are ET 20. So they will be slightly further to the inside than your current setup using the same spacers due to the narrower width compared with you summer wheels. So I wouldn't expect any rubbing.
