Should I replace rod bearing with supercharger install?
Would you advise me to change my rod bearings with the supercharger install? I barley can afford the supercharger so I didn't want to replace the bearings. But I'm thinking it'll be better safe than sorry to replace them. Active autowerks is advising I change them. The car is a 2008 with only 33k miles on it.

Change the bearing better a 2k job then a 25k job. Plan on the Harrop super charger later on and my bearing will be the first thing i replace before i put any extra power in that motor.

I would (and did) even with a milder kit. Worth it for peace of mind. Mine were pretty beat up.
I'd also address differential bushings, or at least make sure they do a look over of the differential and check torque. Plugs/coil packs are also advised, as they are more of a pain to change with the supercharger in the way. Ask why I know...supercharged, put in the break in miles, and my car fell flat on its face until I changed out my coil packs...ran flawlessly before FI. Mine has 79k however, so you might be good just changing plugs. |

Then you really really can't afford to something to go wrong after the supercharger is put on.

Have you sent any oil samples to Blackstone? I agree with people above, and I did replace mine when installed SC, but if you are short on budget checking few samples with Blackstone would really help.

I don't think it is a necessity to change rod bearing to go for FI. If your car had above 100k then I would think about but for 33k, I would pass that and go supercharge personally.
Good luck |
