Nankang CR-1 Sportnex

I've been running the Goodyear Supercar 3R in 275/35r18 square and am quite happy with them (just got a new set). That said, always keeping an eye out for what's next and I'm quite curious about the soon to be released Nankang CR-1 Sportnex. It looks like 275/35r18 will be one of the initial release sizes starting in January, nice!

Grassroot Motorsports Article on CR-1

Looks like these are already available for pre-order as well: LINK LINK2

Looking forward to hearing more after some folks try them out.

@ $269 or $275 pre-order price, they aren't really cheaper than RE-71r in the same size. So unless these are putting out some better times or price drops a lot, I don't see them being very popular.

LG Motorsports and GSpeed (both in Dallas) are dealers for Nankang, if you want a local source.

Might be a viable option when the RE-71R supply starts to get scarce though?

I'm excited for these. Supposedly on par with A052s or slightly better.

I am holding out for these, when I talked to the people at RCompound USA they said the 295's wouldn't be in until Feb. But there are some GREAT reviews on them and some are even saying they are faster than the A052 so keeping my fingers crossed for them.

If they are faster then the A052's they are gunna wear quicker then a set A7's lol.

And knowing Nankang, they'll be cheap for the first year then jack up the price once they gain popularity. I got a early set of AR1's a few years back for under $200 a tire, looked into them again at the start of this past season and the same tire, same size, was now $350 - right on Nankang..

200TW is where I see myself for the foreseeable future so I'm all for more choices. More than enough grip to be fast, not enough that it's as hard on the car as r-comps. My skill level isn't high enough to make the most of 200TW yet either anyways.

I just want to see more of these 200TW tires available in 295/30/18. That seems to be one thing that's very lacking is a lot of tire choice in that particular size.

"200" treadwear...does such a tire even exist? I just assume that 200 = 100-140.

Tell me about it. I would say that your average "200TW" tire these days drives like it's much softer but you could say the same for say the PS4S. It punches way above it's rated TW too. Maybe not for a full 30 minute session by an advanced driver but still more capable than it should be on paper.

I took another look back at the original article and it does appear they'll also be making 265/35/18 and 295/30/18 so that's awesome. I've got some new wheels on the way that are square with 275s so I'll be seeing how I like the feel of that vs my current 265/295 stagger.

I am running Conti EC Sport 295/30/18 and 265/35/18. The Conti are light as tires go, like Michelin PS4 and PSS. I am guessing the Nanking will weigh 20% more. But if they stick, the trade off is worthwhile.

I expect you to try them here and report back

If they are indeed the same speed as AR1..they must wear just as quick. lol
