car:
2009 e92 m3 dct

mods:
clubsport v2
stoptech 60/40 r's
AA axle with AA test pipes
hotchkjs sways
turner upper arms
ground control plates
csf dct cooler
csf ps cooler
csf rad
do88 oil cooler
harrop kit, upgraded injectors
schroth quick fit harness, stock seats
stock interior

had my second track day with the e92, first of which with the Harrop kit.

first event- i was thoroughly impressed with my set up and how the car handled- but was underwhelmed by the power (tracked multiple f80's, f82, f90c). it took me half the day to figure out the power band coming from all FI cars to NA- but ended up being an impressive day, even with the mediocre tires i was running (re71r)

yesterday's track day was a completely different experience( pilot sport slicks).
the power band with the harrop was absolutely perfect. I spent the morning making adjustments to the suspension as best as possible, and was beyond impressed on how it held up.

the car did overheat 4-5 times throughout the day, with oil temps around 290, and coolant peaking at 145- but it was also humid and about 100 degrees, and i was 10/10 beating on the car for most of the sessions. 1 cool down lap, it was back in action.
the pilot sport slicks were incredible, even with the heat conditions and a fairly greasy track as the day progressed. pricey, but highly recommend.
a buddy running an e46 with an ESS kit and hoosier's had overly greasy slicks by the 4th/5th session and struggled to get traction on some of the sharper turns.

out of 30 cars in the group, i placed 3rd quickest lap time. 1st being an ariel atom(does it even count??) and 2nd being a GT3RS with full bolt ons

overall-
very very happy with the Harrop kit, and the general performance of the e9x m3. Glad i decided to keep the car. my pocket definitely felt the upgraded injectors at the pump yesterday! not as bad as the f90 but i was going through just about 8 gallons per 20 min session

@bpmsport mike thanks for working through this with me, and putting up with my shit!

didn't catch many photos yesterday and still trying to figure out how to use my gopro. but i have some videos on my IG story today @gtenedios_

Coolant @ 145? Is that correct?

How many laps did you get before the car started to overheat?

One cool down lap brought oil from 290 to 175? This seems impossible.

swapped the DCT cooler and she ran great the last event.

motor was fine- she didn't overheat on my last event. i was only having some trans issues with heat.
the clutch is being swapped + full trans service before the spring. hoping that sorts it all
track spec hood vents going in as well

Did you go with a stock OEM DCT clutch pack swap, the SSP Spec-R solution or a Dodson DCT clutch pack? Glad the cooling issues with the trans have been solved.

OP, how is that harrop running... I have been considering getting a kit myself. how does it the SC drive compared the f80s and other cars you mentioned. Powerful enough to keep up with an f80 m3?

Thanks for posting this. Probably not a lot of new interest in Harrop kits at 16k per but figured to chime in. I ran my first event on the kit And agree it’s a blockbuster. Ambient temps were in the mid to high 80s, no issues with heat related CELs and only mild heat soak at start of the last run. I should have left the intercooler pump running while it sat in the paddock but the car still led the pack, save for a modded corvette that must have hit 160mph on the back stretch. I have a csf radiator and stock oil cooler. It was a thrilling day that I am certain will cost me thousands of dollars in new adventurous spending.

I did a track day at the Hockenheimring in April with the Harrop kit, and five hard laps + one cool down lap and no temp issues here either. Only issue i found is that i am a bit under-braked being a Cabrio and all. As for keeping up with F80s...if they are near stock, yes you'll walk them all day...if they are tuned, however, no...just no...i was lapped during the session by a friend in a tuned f82. Granted he was on cup 2s and i was on a/s3, but he pulled away on the straights.
