Anyone know what this is?

Had my car recently serviced and found this right under the clutch pedal. Seems to be a sensor but not 100% sure. Frankly, I don’t know if it belongs to my car (E90 M3) either.

Thanks for the comments!

Doesn't look like a sensor, looks like a pivot pin, if it was under your pedals I would check that all of them have pins everywhere they should before something bad happens. it looks like it's lost the circlip that would have kept it in place.

+1 looks like a retaining pin from the clutch pedal.

Look at page 5. There's your part.

Guys, thnx a lot for the comments. It does look like the clutch retaining pin indeed.

Funny thing is though, the clutch action seems to be smoother now

Some people remove the big spring, called the over center helper spring. Some also fit a stiffer version of the small spring when they remove the helper spring, I think from a Z3. The great Ron Stygar, RIP, was one of the pioneers in eliminating the big spring and running just a Z3 small spring and Delrin clutch pedal bushings.
