Have a BMW dealer give you an estimate for the repairs....it will probably be high enough to see it "written off". Usually the third party insurer will pay you off then they will own the salvage. You may be able to buy the car off them as part of the settlement.

Dealers have quoted repair costs of £11,000, million with the possibility of finding further damage underneath once it has been stripped, should it be a write off??!!

It should be a write off then mate. Who will be paying for the cars damaged repair cost or settlement price? Is there a third party person or are you claiming from your own insurance company? Reason I asked this is because your insurance company should have a sent out a guy to check your car out & estimate the repair cost or make a decision weather to write the car off? Also you should have a choice to get the car repaired from your preferred garage (BMW) which will be £11,000 & insurance company may decide to write the car off at the kind of money.

Then it's 100% a write off mate. Show the third party insurance the estimate from BMW & tell them that's only from looking at the damage visually & the cost could be more. I'm sure they will payout the full value of the car.

Ask you insurance company that you are interested in buying the car back off them & what they will offer you is the lowest price so that will be the salavge value as that's what the price your insurance companies will sell to car breakers for or to auctions
